2 rib pieces will attach to the chest plate with velcro. then attach to the back bar that the wearer wears around there back
1 and 2 to the chest armour with velcro
3 attached to the rib and worn around the back with velcro

Well, here is my plan:

Pants: Im going to use a set of UnderArmor running pants and modify them to have a kind of bib overall look so they will have straps that go over the shoulders. No belt needed to keep them in place. The thigh "armor" will be made from heavy leather and will be removable so the pants section can be washed. The reason for the leather is to give a more rigid appearance, but still have some flexibility. I have an easier time working with leather than vinyl. I can also shape the leather to keep the curved look.

Shirt: This will be a standard UnderArmor Heat Gear top to help keep cool. It will be worn underneath the torso section and the bib section of the pants.

Torso Section: Im going to purchase two UnderArmor Heat Gear sleeveless t-shirts. With the two I should have enough cloth to make sure the length is correct. I will create the ribbed sections and then sew them into the t-shirts. This section is seperate so that it can put on just before the armor. I troop all the time with the 501st and I have found it easier to wear as much of the costume to the event then hope to have a place there to change. With the suit being in three pieces, I can wear the pants and shirt to the event and then just put on the torso section over the top when I get there.

At this point, Im going to do the suit in black. I know its not Plum colored, but with most pictures, the color comes out black or dark gray anyway. There is a dark gray that UnderArmor makes that may be a possibility, but I need to see a sample first. I may eventually turn this armor into a Command Centurion, depending on how the chrome paint works out, and they use black suits so I would rather make one suit that does double duty.

Using the UnderArmor builds the HeatGear into the costume rather than having to wear it undereath a homemade lycra suit, so thats a bonus in my opinion.

Thanks for the explanation. So the breastplate doesnt actually attach to the backpack.

Does the backpack attach to anything of just sit freely on the shoulders?

i have a replica suit so in my case NO. I'm not 100 % sure about the originals. but i dare say that velcro is involved again somewhere

I am not sure I understand the question, but the chest piece has rib pieces. Basically a chromed belt to pull it close, and tight to you. It is adjustable via Velcro to your size. It is a 3 piece item. Two of the ribs attach to opposite side and then a plain piece that connects the two ribs pieces together. That is used as the adjusted to fit to size.

You know, sadly, these pieces are missing from a many Cylon Centurion costumes out there.

Yes, the ribs are also made of vacuformed plastic like the rest of the armor.

I am sending parts off to be chromed shortly (After Sept 15th 2009) so anyone that needs these parts, contact C.O.R.A. and order the parts, and he will send the items to me to be chromed.

I have finished painting all my pieces in chrome.

As soon as the backpack arrives from CORA I will have a complete suit.

My hockey gloves arrived today. I have finished taking the cuffs off and have painted them in black. After a few days of curing, I will check on how well the paint sticks to the vinyl. Too bad they were made of leather, it would have been nice to dye them.

Progress continues......

A suit stand alone with nothing else runs about $2500 to have chromed, but since other items going in at this point the cost will be lower. A local Cylon fan working on four suits would like to toss his four in, and that would really cut the cost down a LOT if those four went in.

How would vac-metallizing compare to chroming? I've seen many guys vac-metallize full C-3P0 costumes for $1,000 and there's more parts to those than there is to a Cylon set of armor.
