Correct skirt material help

Post by Ruffkintoy » Mon May 10, 2010 7:25 pm

Can someone with the correct skirt material measure one of the little "blocks" for me in mm?
I have a lead on some that is less expensive than the stuff from whiting&davis, just need to know what size for sure.
Thanks

Chuck

Glad to help, Ruffkintoy. They are 2MM square - but they have little clipped corners in the Whiting & Davis mesh. Below is a close up photo if that will help you.

Awesome! Thank you for doing that. The stuff I am looking at looks just like that and they can do it in gunmetal too so I am going to try it.

Looking to be around $100.00 for a skirt. I just need to get some extra money around to place my order then I will review it here.

perhaps multiple orders from this board will draw prices down? I would be interested in a gold skirt possibly.

A few just did a Whiting & Davis order and got the price a bit down. I don't think you'll get it that low unless MANY ordered. There were only a few interested when Darth Clayton did it last time.

I got to tell you, Whiting & Davis' mesh is well worth it. Much better to invest in it than a camera belt if you have to cut corners like me.

Most places that manufacture, and sell the mess also paint them, but then you have painting skills I believe so it pretty easy to get resolved.

It looks quite accurate compared to the Whiting & Davis skirt to me...

When your dealing with chainmail that small in linkage size no one can tell the difference unless they experts in the Cylon skirt, and examine it. Any Cylon experts from a distance of 10 or 20 ft away wouldn't be able to tell. The thing is about the skirt it is noted by the people viewing it as something as part of the suit, but everyone is drawn to the chrome reflection, and wants to touch the chrome. I think if people touched the skirt that is when they would be shocked on how it feels. It is like silk when you glide your fingers across it. There is not surprise in the touch or the feel of touching the chrome. So if you have found something that is a price cutter with a Cylon on a budget I say buy it, but if you want to get an interest thread to try to let a few others jump in ordering with you maybe discount the per piece cost, or cut shipping cost the time would be now. Looks like a few people are interested.
If you do a interest thread quote know prices, and details of order time, shipping rates, and anything that are relevant to the cost and time frame. Post any and all information you can to give the prospective buyer all the information they can have so 2 days after they make payment they aren't asking me where the skirt is at.

I went ahead and ordered some to try it out. I will post pictures when I get it. If it's correct I will start an interest thread to order some. I didn't want to start one until I have seen the stuff and know it's right. I would hate to have it be wrong with other peoples money involved.

I haven't got it yet. I did get an update from them saying it was done and being shipped.
