Building cylon from rough cut Kropserkel kit

I am in the process of building my cylon suit from a rough cut armor kit made by Kropserkel. I just got the shipment of the armor yesterday, and I started cutting it a bit last night.

It's far from perfect of course. I'm an amateur at doing this sort of thing. For example, my dremel slipped when cutting out the face piece and I now have a small battle scar on one side.

I'm not really looking to make it an exact perfect replica at this point, but more something that I can wear as often as possible without worrying about getting it damaged too much. I think that it should look great in pictures once it's done.

I have about a week to get everything together before DragonCon. The rough cut armor kit doesn't come with any way to attach the armor to the undersuit. I would appreciate any tips that you guys have for that kind of thing.

Do you just use some heavy duty velcro? I'm also trying to figure out how to attach the chest and back pieces. I think I'm going to need some elastic straps and attach them somehow.

We'll see how this goes. I'll post more pictures as it progresses.

I thought they sold off those extra parts years ago. I guess they have parts just lying around and put the pieces together as the suits are sold. Is it a complete Cylon suit with everything included?

It is a full set of armor, but not finished. It's taken directly from the molds and not cut. There are no fasteners, which is my main question for anyone who has this suit already assembled.

I'm making pretty good progress cutting everything out and smoothing the edges. Once I'm finished with that I need to figure out how to attach the pieces to the undersuit.

There aren't really any instructions. So, if anyone has pictures of their finished pieces, like how the chest, back and neck are strapped on. Maybe some pictures of the armor without anyone wearing it, and especially from the back side of it.

If you go into the photo gallery you will find extreme detailed photos, and also see the BIG difference in your Krop back pack and the original style.

Why the fook don't they trim the pieces then chrome them.. hence why when you buy a suit from them all the edges are white. Shoddy finish for the price.
How the pieces go together.

First the shoulder bells are attached to the undersuit. Stick the soft part to the undersuit or the hook will pull it to bits. Attach the soft part of the velcro to the inside of your shoulder bells.





The chest.

Add 2 pieces for velcro around the top and 2 towards the side. Then use webbing or elastic to hang the chest from around your neck. The second 2 pieces
are used to secure the chest to your body. I have made a chrome bar that goes around my body using styrene and fablon. Get your fablon from here or elsewhere.

You need lots to hid the seams. Or the helmet and armlets if you require and also when trooping your find this also hides damage, scratches ect.






The neck and back

That is simply secured at the front using velcro. At the side of the neck at each side near the front attach velcro. At the back of the neck again use velcro / webbing to be able to join the neck with the back piece. Once the back piece and the neck are secured together then using webbing from the front of the neck join to the lower part of the backpack. This will help hold down your neck piece and pull in your backpack.









You may also need addition piece of webbing from the backpack around your chest to really hold it in.

The Arms

you may need to glue some spong into your armlets before you join them . This will help secure them when you wear them. Stop them spinning and moving.

The Undersuit.

You can replace the crap sponge pads on the suit,or as a temporary measure just colour the edges in using a black permanent marker.

hope this helped you out a little. I also modified my gloves and made the inner part of my boot using styrene and fablon and of course Velcro.

Sorry the belt pieces. Just watched your video. Once your trimmed out the belt pieces then using a length of velcro sick the top edge then loop it from the edge to the other side and then sick down. Using some old material, cover the sticky part exposed towards the belt so that it isn't sticky. Now you should have a belt part with a kind of loop that can be threaded onto you belt here's a picture along with some more so you can see what I mean...

One more thing I finished off a lot of the armour edge (backpack neck chest) using a plastic chrome edging for a car. I can give you where I bought mine if you cant find any?

I doubt I'll get to all of the things you're describing this week. That will have to be a longer term project. But I still think I can get a basic function suit going this week. It's a ton of cutting and sanding if you don't buy the full finished suit. I'm expecting to spend several days on it to get it looking reasonably good.

The strap placement I guess is correct because it is a Kropserkel suit, but the chest piece on the original has Velcro that is located in a different location. It attaches to the back side of the face plate inside the toilet seat section. (toilet seat is shoulder piece) The Kropserkel piece is shaped differently so I am not sure if your able to connect the two pieces together, but I have noticed of video that the back pack does slip back. Just seeing that tell me that the two pieces aren't connected at all. It gives the two pieces a stable bases also.

Yea Dale, your right the the back did slip back. since that video I've added another strap to hold it in more secure to the body..

Straps like what? If your talking about the ones on the armour make them yourself. either elastic or webbing from your local material shop and some sew on velcro.
