Does anyone know the inside story of how Brett Somers came to guest-star on Battlestar Galactica?
Whose idea was it? Who thought it was a good idea, and why?
Was the role of Siress Belloby written with her in mind? Before or after she was cast in the show?
If she was not the only one considered for the part, who else was?
So many mysteries surrounding this whole incident.

Well, even if there are no answers, I think they're valid questions.

When you mentioned her BSG Character name, I knew who you were talking about... I didn't place her from her other work. My GUESS would be she somehow was friends with Lorne Greene from working in "the biz" together??? And when it came time for a love interest for Adama they looked around for an actress of similiar age, etc.
Cool question!

You may not be quite old enough to remember her omnipresence on "Match Game" and elsewhere in the mid-Seventies. Count yourself lucky!Cylon-Knight wrote:When you mentioned her BSG Character name, I knew who you were talking about... I didn't place her from her other work. Re: Brett Somers: How? Why?
It was probably her husband Jack Klugman who got her the part. When the show was shot in 1978 Klugman was the lead in Universal TV's Quincy M.E. which was one of their higher rated shows at the time
While the Match Game is how most remember her (Jack got her that gig as well), She has an acting resume that is impressive with shows like Love, American Style, The Defenders, Have Gun Will Travel, Ben Casey, CHiPs, The Love Boat, Barney Miller, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Fugitive, Battlestar Galactica, even a stint as Perry Mason's secretary. She also was the ex wife Blanche to Klugman's Oscar Madison on the Odd Couple.

Wow, I'll have to find her Fugitive episode. Yeah, I'd forgotten how popular Quincy was at the time.

"Glen, good news. You're going to series!"
"Wow, great!"
"But on one condition."
"Yeah?"
"Jack wants you to..."
"Oh, please, not..."
"Yep."
"Felgercarb."
