Now to try to chrome...

looks like it could be just what I need

I had a dabble with the alclad2 chrome paint today

Wow, looks similar to my armor... good work!

Did you do everything? Polish and such...
Did you use a black base coat or white?

I grey primered the belt buckles
left it to dry a few hours then
flatted down with wet and dry
I sprayed it gloss black with a spray can
left it 10 minutes
then sprayed a very light dusting coat of chrome with a airbrush pressure very low
left it a minute or 2
then sprayed a second slightly heavier coat of chrome pressure still low
left it out in the sun to dry for a couple of hours.

if you think you have sprayed enough chrome paint on you will probably find you have infact sprayed on way too much and what you will end up with is dull silver

I did try doing one over white as I too thought it would work better, but it didn't. I don't know why.

Wonder what a yellow under coat would do other than black or white?

Did you polish the chrome finish before you clear coated it? If you polish it with a microfiber cloth before you clear coat you can increase the luster of the finish.
