Cylon colours

Post by cybertrooper » Tue May 23, 2006 6:08 am

Hi,
I am familiar with the standard silver/chrome cylon centurions and the gold commanders; but where in the series did the bronze/copper centurions come in?

Where these just a variant on the gold ones or were they just a developmental or lighting adjusted option?

At least three colored Cylons were made. The standard was the silver (chrome) colored Cylon. A copper colored Cylon was made, and seen a few different times. It seemed to have a higher rank. Then the Gold Cylon Vulpa was revealed in Gun on Ice Planet Zero. The gold rib piece in this photo is from my personal collection.

I think in the "Hand of God" or "Gun on Ice Planet Zero" you can see three colored Cylons in or near each other at once, at least the copper and gold on screen at the same time.

GREAT color comparison pic!
I dunno... that copper color does not look like a 'burned' gold to me (in reference to the recent discussion).

I've noticed differences in the color of the standard centurion's painted sections on the back of the head. Maybe even the mouth, too (darker grey, if not black). But early in the shows I see the back of the heads unmistakably black, like Vulpa, and then later-on the grey ones begin to appear; mixed in with the black ones. Have any of these black versions turned up in collector's hands? I've only seen the grey ones.

Originally, the Centurions' painted areas are ment to be gunmetal, like the vinyl on the undersuit as well as the skirts.

The Command Centurions came with black painted details on their helmets/mouthpieces.

I haven't seen a Centurion helmet with a black mouthpiece and details yet, but it would be interesting to know if such specimens exists...

Yea, I don't think the standard chrome centurions had black mouths, but much darker than later on. I'd swear that the head panels on back are black though. Take a close look at several of the shots in "The Young Lords", for instance. There's even a closeup of the back of the head during the part when one of the kids is setting the detonators at the petro-dump. Check it out. :cylon:
