My experience in the Cylon replica costumes: 2 years ago (March of 2004) I won a gold Cylon replica costume on Ebay
and was ever so excited! I actually was a little dissatisfied the fact it wasn't a chrome Cylon, I mean don't get me wrong
the gold one is cool because it is still a cylon but I always thought three chrome Cylons in their raider ships attacking
Colonial Vipers was wicked cool and vaguely remembered the gold or bronze ones.
After anxiously awaiting for UPS to deliver it, opening the boxes, wearing it, taking millions of pictures and showing my
friends it was shortly after that when I began to pay close attention to DETAIL. I thought to myself "I just spent
$2,200.00 dollars on this?!" The boots were cheap winter boots, the gloves looked obvious that they were hockey gloves,
the skirt looked like something you would find at Joanne's fabrics, and the belt was so cheap it looked like something you
would wear while lifting heavy boxes at work with the chromed pieces "taped" to it while they "dangled" off the belt, the
undersuit looked like it was rushed to be put together and only had ribbing in the lower stomach NOT THE NECK, NOT THE BACK,
NOT THE ARMS, and did not have one single patch that looked like the originals. As for the armor, well, the boot gauntlets
were in 2 pieces per leg and were bolted into the "winter boots" it looked like such a joke because they also were so small,
the backpack was so ugly it covered the whole entire back and the eye scanner just lit one led at a time. I must have spent
more money in modifications!!!! But what are you looking for? just a replica that you can call a "CYLON" or bite the bullet
and spend your money where it is worth spending on something you can say "NOW THIS IS A CYLON"!!!!
Now I am not mentioning any names but you would think certain companies who manufacture these costumes would eventually
modify their work or lower their damn prices!! But eventually I sold all my errors and started from scratch. TO ALL YOU
PERFECTIONISTS OUT THERE WHO ARE LIKE ME AND WANT 100% AND NO LESS HERE IS WHAT I RECOMMED: purchase the Cylon kit from Jim,
after you trim it, sand it, and glue it, send it to Dale to be chromed. By then you would have spent between $1,300.00
and $1,400.00 which is half the battle and IS WORTH IT. To me, it seems the hardest perfection in this project is the
undersuit. Getting fitted, finding the right seamstress who won't take 5 years or won't communicate, applying the ribbing
and patches. If you have a real good undersuit that is probably the last half of the battle. Weapons, skirt, belt, gloves,
boots, and scanner and voices are pretty much available from time to time but once you find these things after a game of
patience, you are well on your way to making a dead on replica. As for the costs of your project I would agree with Mr
William Fong whom I must thank for purhasing the Cylon voice cd's from me, for a dead on replica you will spend anywhere
from $3,000.00 to $4,000.00 on your masterpiece (including the weapons and everything else). But just like anything else
make sure you pay attention to detail, pictures, videos of the series, reference photos, and do your research before you
spend the money, and GOOD LUCK!!

I totally agree with you. Too much crap out there today as far as inaccurate Cylons. Let's get a decent Cylon to be mass produced!

I am all for that in mass production. Look at how many Storm Troopers are out there, why can't we get a Con event that has more that one Cylon showing up.

One we have our CYLON finished. We build a step by step website on our website to built the Ultimate as close to screen used originality parts list and maybe sell some misc extra parts to help further fund the "In search of the PERFECT CYLON ensemble."

I have seen that listing, and noticed a few things wrong with it. The eye scanner shell is way off, and the same with the belt box covers. They won't fit on your now perfect belt. I don't see a mouth piece grill, and ask if the seller can put the two shell of the helmet together , and take a pic straight on to see if everything lines up.....These are just a few things I have noticed, would you like more things I see wrong? :idea: :idea: :idea: :idea:

Thanks for the heads up. I think we will stick with Jim of WeGottaFindEarth as too many unperfect nuanaces we don't know about. We are still newbies at this. THX and do elaborate more to educate others who may be bidding on them NOW as we speak. Again Thanks. We will ask Jim if he can offer us a fiberglass version.

Jim just bought some new parts, and has sent me a few to compare to my suit, and so far they are close, and better than what he had before. I bet in a few short weeks he will be ready to make a few more suits.

No wonder i got an email from him stating a few parts may be up for sale. Gotcha. We would not have bought them anyway as it would be too tough to try and puzzle piece an armor set together. Please do talk to Jim and invoke on our behalf that we would gladly buy a set from him. Preferably in fiberglass and not ABS.

Hey Dale,
How's this for an idea? You need to make a nice near exact replica from our screen used outfit. Finally a correct version for sale to all collectors alike. We or you should have a special topic on the different version out there and have side to side comparions. I know it's gonna be helluva lot of work though.
