TOS Cylon parts in Silo 3D
I am currently fixing up parts for a TOS Cylon to be used to build out of foam
Please add or modify any parts to this.
I would love for this to be available to all users.
Working on the backpack.
Left fore arm now has a basis retractable sword in it like Razor
The Gloves will also be made from rectangular foam, instead of the hockey gloves.
Alsa now has strechable gold and silver chrome film that I will use to cover the parts when done.

It will not Allow me to upload the zip file. Please let me know is you want it and I will send it to you.

I will be doing it the same way as people build ironman and halo out of foam.GoldCylon wrote:I didn't have any idea parts could be printed in 3D foam. That rocks.
The ribbed portion will be done using round foam tubes glued to a foam sheet and wrapped arround your neck and waist, and just wearing a jumpsuit under neath.

if you do a search for DIY 3D printer, to DIY CNC Router, you can build them fairly cheap out of MDS and using Arduino boards to control them.Cylon-Knight wrote:I have a friend that told me he has to co-workers going in on a 3D printer together. I will be building a CNC Router that will take a full 4 x 8 foot seet of foam or mdf to make cupboard doors or even a full front latex mold like some one has done for batman.

TOS Cylon parts in Silo 3D
Iron man was and has been for several films printed out of idlight.
Ironmonger was printed in styrofoam.
The first time we used 4 lb yellow foam was on the spinosaurous full size printout. Talk about big.
Die human!!!

Cool. My Friend -who had the co-workers getting the printer- just bought and is learning about the Arduino. First up with it He and I are going to tinker with our own take at a Cylon Eye.DougMorency wrote:if you do a search for DIY 3D printer, to DIY CNC Router, you can build them fairly cheap out of MDS and using Arduino boards to control them.Cylon-Knight wrote:I have a friend that told me he has to co-workers going in on a 3D printer together. google Arduino Cylon, and the circuit is there, I am planning on doing this for the eye the robotic limb noises and the voice as well, and then one in the rifle as well.

I think we have a first prize winner for the most unusual way of constructing TOS Cylon Centurion armor!
Well done.

Thank you, but this is just the early progress, I need to get all the parts drafted up.Red Eye wrote:I think we have a first prize winner for the most unusual way of constructing TOS Cylon Centurion armor!

I like the idea, of not needing a special undersuit, kinda like the storm troopers.
The mockup will all be using craft foam, and then I may build it out of the exercise or floor mat foam tiles.
Can anyone with the hockey gloves work on the gloves, I will zip up what I have and post it as well.
Does anyone know how to schale to life size with silo, I am new to the cad stuff, I am a programmer by trade for 30+ years.

Do you know what the purpose of the laser like turret on the right for arm was for?

Yes, Doug, I do!
"At one point Andrew Probert [the designer of the Classic Cylon Centurion] looked at the gauntlet of the Cylon Centurion costume. Below two proposals are shown for both the left and right gauntlet. The idea was to add some sort of weapon in the right gauntlet. Note the double octagonal shape/symbol on the upper arm that was added as some sort of rank among the Cylon Centurions. The additions on the left gauntlet were made to make it look similar to the right gauntlet that had the weapon. These proposals were never used. "

An item that nuBSG did use. SciFi Channel's Centurions had weapons in the arm that folded out with a bit more drama, but same idea they had back in the 70s.
MY GUESS is that it arm lasers were "too removed" or "too sci-fi" for audiences of the 70s and even Star Wars Stormtroopers had guns. Everyone understands guns. Use guns. I think that was the studios thought process.
