Cylons, and a Daggit
I went to see the eBay Daggit today, and took a few friends.
Yes it was raining, and it sucked when you are meeting in a parking lot.

Nice photo... but I've put something over them preventing them from getting wet...

Yes they are the real deal, and I had no choice in the matter about these being in the rain if I wanted a photo. It was get them wet or no photo. Nothing was hurt it was just a heavy sprinkle at the time I took the photo.

Re: Cylons, and a Daggit
Yes all three are screen used real deals. A guy in Auburn has the Daggit for sale. I went up there yesterday and checked it out. He wanted to play it safe and meet in a public setting. Starbucks parking lot doesn't do to well when it rains, but it wasn't to crazy just not the best setting I thought it could have been.Hand-Schaub wrote:very cool - is it real - what's the scoop?

Re: Cylons, and a Daggit
Why does his daggit have no ears? They are not in his listing pic either... odd.

Are you thinking about buying the daggit? Is it just the head or the whole thing? How much is he asking for it? I'd love measurements from it...I have plans to build my own daggit...eventually! http://muffitbuild.blogspot.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/daggitbuilders/

Re: Cylons, and a Daggit
Hey everyone here are the details that everyone is chomping at the bit to hear about the Daggit. Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet the owner of the Daggit suit. (Nameless) and his wife have been Chimp owners, trainers, and handles of 14 chimps about 36 years. They just recently retired, and came back from a six month road trip retiring the chimps across the country with six of the chimps be retired to a new home in Houston. (Nameless) has a vast movie, TV, and commercial credit. He did not work on Galactica, but one of his close friends was the back up crew hired to work on Galactica. His friend is how the Daggit suit came about. The suit was passed onto (Nameless) to train one of his chimps in case a 3rd back up needed. The teams that were hired were company to fill the Daggit suit. The chimps were not hire, but the company was. Anyway the suit was never claimed back so it stayed in his closet on a hanger the past 30 plus years.
Now about the Daggit. First off the reserve is still unknown to me he won't disclose the amount. I have no insight on that at all over everyone else. As of yesterday afternoon when I met him he had 7 email questions, and 12 watching the listing. Unfortunately it was raining here yesterday, and him wanted to meet in public. So we met at Starbucks parking lot in the rain. Inspection, and photos weren't easy at all. Only at the last few minutes of looking at the Daggit did I find a small dry corner to get a better look.
The Daggit does have problems, missing upper snout, missing ears, missing eyes, missing tongue, and missing fur around the head. A few small swatches of fur were located, but unsure where they go. They had snaps on them, but nothing around the head area that used the snaps. The over all condition for a props 33 years old is OK because it was stored most of the time in side, but it is very rough around the edges. It is dusty, and falling apart. The feet show wear, but limited, and more damage via age more than used by the chimp. The helmet has the electronic, but no remote controller to test if it still works. Not sure if the batteries were even removed so the acid might have leaked out on the inside wrecking the servos if not removed. It looks like the original build up was just with no care at all because the pieces were glued down, or Velcro down, and glue is all over the metallic material. I serous doubt that can be cleaned. The fur is a combo of glues down, and Velcro down. Making that an other problem if you try to clean it. The undersuit has a few sections that has green sewn into the suit, and in spots that will make it difficult to hide the green from eyes. A large swatch of fur is missing on top near the electronics dummy box. Looks like the box might have been glued down in the wrong spot, and then cut the fur off to remove the box. I couldn't figure out an other way to reset the pattern to hide this exposed area. Below is the best of the photos I could get since the rain was a major hamper.

Re: Cylons, and a Daggit
These are really awesome photos Dale - thanks for sharing. I wish I would have heard my phone when you called because I was just down the road from you!
Anyways - regardless of the condition it is still a neat piece. I would say the missing parts are expected. The overall presentation is really great as a display piece. As far as radio controled electronics... I have several guys for that kind of thing if this does end up in your possesion. I know it would be functioning again.
uh... the picture of you and the daggit are a bit... provocative

Uhhh...you don't like my Daggit style....LoL...oh man I didn't even notice till you just said something...I doubt it will be mine since I don't have the funds to buy it. It will go for a nice price that I can't afford at this time. Toooo many vacation weeks from work.Hand-Schaub wrote:

Re: Cylons, and a Daggit
I'd love to see your full sized Daggit once finished. I'll look at your blog spot and see what you have got going on now.Lt Rhea wrote:Are you thinking about buying the daggit?
