Post by Red Eye » Fri Aug 07, 2009 9:56 am

I don't know if it may help anybody, but I've recently scanned the following pictures of the original Cylon Centurion costumes which where sold by Profiles in History during their 16th and 23rd Hollywood memorabilia auctions.

You're welcome. Glad you like them.

Did you notice that the boot gauntlets on the Centurion and Vulpa are upside down? How embarrassing...

Yes I have even spoken with Profiles who owns that now before I made the trip up north to see Vulpa, and that was was just a bad promo photo.

Yea most of them are "dressed" wrong, the forearm armors are backwards too... Left / Right arms.

And the Photoshopped eye scanner is BADLY done - the top Centurion pic it isn't in the scanner, but the black eye area. You said it GoldCylon - BAD promo photos. BUT, they are still very helpful to see the original armor and gather some info from... thanks for sharing them Red Eye, you are a valuable resource for everyone here! *applause*

P.S. What is up with ALL of the salt-and-petter holes in Vulpa's helmet? there are TOO MANY isn't there?

Yes, the salt-and-pepper holes on the Vulpa helmet are far too much.

I think the owner had drilled additional holes in order to achieve a better sight inside.

Here's a better photo for the helmet:

Poor old Valpa. Must have got out of bed very quickly.

His boot armour is on upside down
his sword could cause a serous injury
his gauntlets are on the wrong arms.
His backpack is riding up and crooked
and he looks like hes been attacked by a driller killer

A bit late to this thread, I realize....

I recognize the "Vulpa" helmet. In fact, I have pics of me wearing it in my house.

That helmet was used 20+ years ago when Universal Studios theme park was doing the Halloween Horror Nights. They had a guy wearing a Cylon suit out along the tram route. He complained it was a "safety issue" because the original helmet had those very small holes (as we all know) and he couldn't see in the dark. So they drilled those wide holes for visibility. I nearly died of horror myself when I saw them do that to the helmet. Such a shame to ruin an original prop like that....

Did you wear the original Vulpa suit, and do you have contact with the guy that wore the suit for the tram tour?

When they used that helmet, they had sanded almost all of the bronze off of it. But there was still little bits of the bronze in places, so I knew what it was used for.
Apparently the studio did not have the full bronze suit, only a silver one and they rubbed all the bronze off the helmet and it was a dull silver color.

The suit they used for the event was a silver one. (Which I also had in my house, with pics of me wearing it.)

The guy they hired for the event was just a temp for the event. I don't recall his name.

I will try to find the pics for you guys....I came across them recently but not sure where they are offhand.

Cool... can't wait to see the photos. If they are in you computer search for *.jgp or *.gif on your hard drives... that'll give you EVERY image and you'll be able to find them in a jiffy.

I think that Cylon has reproduction stickers - at least the one on the left forearm. PLUS HE IS DRESSED WRONG!
...my goodness... what is it with the arm armor and displays? There is a 50/50 chance of getting it wrong - OR RIGHT! EVERYONE is always backwards. The image is not flopped or the right one would be backwards so that's not the issue... just dressed wrong. <END RANT>
