Well since I don't have the experience, know how or money to make a new suit I'm going to do some upgrades to my current one. I did have a some questions though..
1.
What should I use for the thigh/ankle/bicep area (black areas)? KS sent some pieces of leather with my suit that I had to pull up on my thighs, but it never really held or looked right. Is the material sewn on or velcroed or glued?
2.
What would be the best way to upgrade the skirt?
Thanks in advance!

Jeff

I've looked into a few skirting options - a "real" chain mail/mesh one will run several hundred. BUT... it is SO worth it. I'll have a metal one one the time comes to get one.

I saw they also have changed their backpack/collar armor setup a couple months back as well, to look closer to accurate.

If you can't afford the money for the mesh skirt, I'd suggest you just take a piece of silver sequined fabric like I did.
It has a close match to the real deal and it'll cost you only a fraction of the original...
Here are a few pictures:

I've seen that fabric at various retail and fabric stores. It is nice stuff - a great idea for low cost skirting Red Eye.

I need some ideas of what to use for the thigh, bicep, ankle areas of my undersuit
(i.e black areas) I was thinking leather, but I am not exactly sure. Also does anybody have any patterns for those areas?

Vinyl is the correct material for the "patches."
A gun metal gray.
You can get it at fabric stores. A few on the forum here were working on some patterns. I'll email/chat and see if they had time to make any...

Very cool... looks like it is very close to the original style to me.

That looks like Chris's under suit to me. It is a dead on 1:1 replica suit I helped him with via phone, and email over 2 year period. It is too bad he sold it about 2 years later after it was completed. He did a awesome job. Also if you need reference just look in the photo gallery section I have more photos posted than the top 10 BSG sites combined in the reference world.

It's from Shadowdale Creations for
$600.00. I sent them an email, and they responded right back to me. They said they are running about 12 weeks in advance, and would need $300 down for a deposit. This is really tempting. Anyone ever heard of or dealt with them?

Wow! It's a great price for this kind of detailed work...
I think I'll order mine from them as well... I have enough waiting for my undersuit for almost 3 years now... without seeing any progress...
Does the price includes shipping?
womo68 (also at this forum) has bought his undersuit from Shadowdale, too... you may try to contact him via PM.
He also has posted a respective thread at the Replica Prop Forum:
