Re: Building my Cylon-Knight
OKAY - I FINALLY got all of my Cylon stuff out - at one time in one place for some photos like I've wanted to for a loooong time
HERE they are! Every part "as is" so I can see what I got, what I need, what is done, and what to do.

Franken-Cylon? Cylon-stein? GIVE MY CREATION LIFE!!!

Boots, Batt Boxes and Gloves

Helmet and back pack - all just held together for now with tape

Close up of back pack detail items

Left arm items and Right arm items

Battery box blocks from nashslah - AMAZING! He hand made them
WOW!
THANK YOU NASHSLASH

Cylon-Knight's very own Cylon Stickers (Mark II). I've made an improvement you can see to be more accurate. I've got the most accurate stickers in the universe unless anyone with a screen used Cylon can prove me wrong (and then I'll just update them
). I have another update in store too - Mark III stickers on the way. I believe the white/black/white/black sticker to be incorrect.
You can see my "good stickers" are on a nice gloss paper. The one on my armor - for test fitting - is icky old smelly matte paper.
No need to put on good stickers when I gots no chrome yet!

So long Startbuck and Apollo...

Looking good so far. Is that a C.O.R.A. kit? As for judging the stickers and stuff they were all hand made individually not photo copied so each one is bit different. Trying to take a look at the copy, and then compare to mine it will be off in minor area, and then looking at an other make more adjustments. Avoid the hassle, and make it gold. The gold guy has no markings.

C.O.R.A. it is, good Cylon eye - GoldCylon!
I recommend C.O.R.A. armor to anyone!
Stickers, yes, there are MANY screen used "goofs" and inconsistencies with the stickers that drive me nuts!
Your basic TV show production "evil" that happens to any show... but I think I've got a great set for use crazy builder types

Re: Building my Cylon-Knight

Tonight I FINALLY got to a local shoe/boot repair shop and asked how do I go about coloring some old hockey gloves to be all black.
The guy was like - you need this... And he got me the Leather Dye. I told him the gloves were a bit stiff too and he recommended the Leather Conditioner,
and noted to use it AFTER the dye job. Also after that might need some polish.
SO... now I need to figure out where to cut the gloves, etc. and then get them colored.

Here are the gloves as they stand now.

Re: Building my Cylon-Knight
Hope it will work better than spraying the gloves like I did.
Unfortunately, the paint cracked in any area of movement, most notably between the thumb and forefinger.
If you need any pics for reference how to cut the gloves just tell me.
At least, I was able to accomplish this without having any serious problems...

Red Eye - the photos of where/what to cut would be a wonderful help!
If you could please either email them to me - or post them here, which ever works better for you. Email may be better so you don't have to resize or upload anything...
MUCH APPRECIATED MY FRIEND!

Re: Building my Cylon-Knight
Again it is part of their past that they were moving so fast in the productions of each show they weren't able to keep up with minor details, and fix them when they were up against the clock. Nice catch BTW.

They can hire me to be "the sticker guy" on the next show that uses TOS Cylons

Say, did you ever notice in that photo the "nozzle" on the right forearm armor for a Command Centurion is black!? It's not gold like I'd expect (since a chrome Centurion

Re: Building my Cylon-Knight
GLOVE CUTTING!

First, Cylon Kitty was busy... so Cylon Puppy wished me good luck before I started work on the glove...

Some close up shots of the before any cuts were made.

More close up shots of the before any cuts were made.

A final view of the inside before any cuts were made.

Enter the Dremel tool - taking off the old cutter disk and put on a new BIGGEST cutter disk I have.

EPIC FAIL! I've circled the spot where I tried to start to cut.
It just went "whiiiirrrrr" and my Dremel stopped, and it stunk like burnt leather!
(It is a battery powered type, and the battery was not fully charged.)
:frak:
SO, what is a Cylon to do?! I looked around the table I was working on and...

AH HA! OH TINMAN... do you recognize your cutter?!
COSMIC COINCIDENCE everyone, Tinman sold me a Star Trek model and accidently packed this cutter when he shipped it.
What a happy accident
For most the glove mod it is a perfect tool... you can extend the blade and use it like a saw.
The old material was EASY to cut and the leather just needed a few scoring cuts to get through it.

Here we go - let the mayhem start!

Well... in the cuff there are plastic inserts to increase the strength / make the cuff very rigid.
You can see the edge of it here, black. On the right I've highlighted it with a red line.
You can also see how the (on my gloves) white edge is sewn in with the green (I've highlighted that too). I didn't want to get that cut and risk the white edge falling apart.

AAAAH! SOMEONE CUT MY GLOVE APART
On the right you can see the edge of the BIG plastic insert in the cuff.

On the left you can see more plastic insert stuff... just under my thumb to the left is the edge of a black insert.
To the right I'm pulling up the leather so you can see the insert.

On the left: POW! Trying to pull the insert out and it flew out... the old insulation is a crumbled up mess.
On the right: The aftermath

MORE Plastic inserts... three in a row (two views - on the right I bent it backwards a lot to get them to really show).

AAAAH! SOMEONE CUT MY GLOVE IN HALF!
On the right, a close up of the three inserts again. Cooper REALLY built these gloves.

Left: View of the what I cut off
Right: What is left after the cuts

Left: You can see there is more (on my glove) green leather to trim, that goes up under the white edge.
I need to get some SHARP scissors to cut everything down deeper. Tinman's cutter was awesome up to this point,
but now it is such a tight spot and I can't go cutting the "to keep" stuff. I want to make careful controlled cuts
with some scissors.

Left: Me sporting my new Cylon glove! (Bottom view)
Right: Me sporting my new Cylon glove! (Cuff view)

Right: Me sporting my new Cylon glove! (Another cuff view)

I forgot to take a "wearing the glove before I cut it" photo - so here is the left glove. You can see what they look like before.

Hockey glove - CYLON GLOVE!

The real Cylon deal! Look for that COOPER BDS / ARMADILLO Thumb

COOL! Cylon-Knight is your right hand man
Hope this helps other builders - more later as I finish the glove trimming and then clean/dye them (not going to paint).
