Glove help..

Post by Darth Clayton » Fri Jan 15, 2010 4:19 pm

Greetings fellow Toasters,

I am in need of some assistance. I picked up a pair of Armadillo thumb hockey gloves and need to get them modded. The problem is I live so far out in the boonies the closest alteration shop is 30-45 minutes away. I have a pair of KS right now, but they are not even close to accurate. I nor my wife have a sewing machine, and even if we did we wouldn't know where to start.

So my plea is this, Would somebody help me get these gloves modded? (i.e. cut, painted etc.) I would be more than happy to compensate you for your time/materials. Thought it would be better to have you all help me out than to take it to someone who would have no idea what they are even doing..

If you can help me out shoot me a PM..

Thanks in advance! :byyourcommand:

If you go look on the photo gallery under Cylon, and then gloves a good step by step photo guide is there. Nothing real hard to do to get yourself set up on the Cylon gloves. I am sure in as little as 2 hours you will have them finished up.

Darth, the pics I forwarded you were from Red Eye - he used paint. And notted some cracking in the bend between the index finger and thumb.

I'm going to use dye on mine - pics of the products in my Cylon-Knight thread near the bottom of page 9: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=531&start=120

That's what the leather shop guy sold me when I told him I wanted to recolor some gloves.

If it works better to dye the gloves, maybe I'll try this again for my pair as well.

But here we have the next problem: How can the spray paint be removed?

Just a heads up maybe for cost control the originals were spray painted.

What is the best paint to use for gloves? (brand & type) My wife picked me up some dye, but I don't think is is going to work because mine are a combination of leather and nylon, and I believe the dye is to be used on just leather (correct me if I'm wrong) :byyourcommand:

I did a quick search on yahoo for "how to paint nylon fabric" and found this link:
http://www.ehow.com/how_5912100_paint-t ... abric.html

Sounds like textilene may be similar? Perhaps the same type of paint would work? OR, maybe try to call a GOOD fabrics store - or paint store and as them for some advice.

I used a combination both both spray paint and dye for my gloves with no problem .. I used leather dye for the leather parts and after cleaning use spray paint on the material/artificial man made parts, left them to dry for a few days and there you go...
