San Dieago 2010 Comic Con Cylon BASH

OK with a 1 year heads up let get together as many Cylon costumes, and display suits together as possible. Lets show everyone in the Universe (Darth Vader and his cronies aka Storm Troops) we are a force that can show strength in man power. Just off the top of my head I can think of at least 5 or 6 suits that will be able to show up. Can we have a goal of say 15---20---or even 25, or how about 30. That would be more than even Universal made for the original filming. I think it would be awesome to have a booth for those that don't want to wear their suit. but display only, and those guys that want to wear there suits that would be a great gathering spot for photo ops. This would not exclude anything Galactica related new or original, or even a worthy concept.

I added my vote as "not sure" for now... I have to finish my suit first! ... no one (but the police) would talk to me if I show up WITHOUT any suit

This is a great idea GoldCylon - we could DECEND on the con and make a media frenzy - YES!

That's what I was worried about as well...

I would only be too pleased to appear in my Imperious Leader costume... feel so sorry about it, too... it would be great to see all of you guys in person as well...

Hey a food for thought thing for both of you. Maybe ship it over, not take it on the plane, and or just bring the smallest amount 100% wanted or needed of your suit, and we can work on the rest of the suit needed here. Like a Cylon, bring your undersuit, boots, and helmet, and I can get the rest made up for you. The Imperious Leader the head and robe, and I'd make a new throne/chair for him. Nothing like putting a Cylon to work for the the IL. Any thoughts about that guys?

That could be an option good thinking Dale... well you never know ...Maybe....have to see how things go over the next few months or so... as Red Eye said. Would be cool meeting up with many of you guys for real... I'd have to bring my misses too though. There's no way shed let me go alone and have all the fun...

I have been talking with an other guy about this via email from Black Squadron. They are a costuming forum for the Colonial Warrior uniform. He thinks that 2010, and 2011 are both good goals, and 2010 would be the trail run for 2011 when the movie is released. I'll try to get him over here to help bring in more ideas, and people.

That would be me! Hey everyone, My name is Mark from over at Blackstar Squadron parlaying if you will!

This is a fantastic idea! We're going to make 2010 our debut con (first con with a booth) and we'll be promoting for it all through the year.

Here's the rub. Colonial Warriors are awesome...but we all know its the Cylons that get heads turning!

It would be cool to either share a booth or get two booths next to each other and really deck 'em out. I'm working on getting some screen used items to the con as well.

Galactica related events are always a big draw at Comic Con but there is suprisingly little for BSG fans there. We're hoping to change that. Part of the Blackstar mission statement is to promote and celebrate this fandom through costuming. With the recent Bryan Singer film announcement this seems to be the year to make this happen!

We have tossed around a few ideas from building a Viper cockpit for fan pictures to a tower for Imperious leader to sit on. Some crazy ideas but we can think big and sort it all out in a bit.

Making this a joint effort would be the best way to go I think!

Just a few of the hurdles I can think of right now are...

Money for the booth/booths
Props, models, other display items
Costumed Warriors and Cylons
People to pull table duty shifts
An eye cathing design for our booths.

Even if you can't come to the con, throw your ideas out and lets all see what we can come up with.

Topping the production suits with 30 Cylons in one place would be quite a sight to behold! Richard and Herb are there every year and I'm sure they would join in on the fun if we're really convincing and make a show of fans!

If you've never been to Comic Con...it is truly in a category all its own. Lets make this happen!

You could always ship it ahead of time (like the month before to save costs or to help spread out the expense) to a trusted Cylon friend here in the San Diego area or a friend you know who will be driving here.

Don't let that keep you from attending, you are needed mate!

Oh by the way I am Kronus, I am one of the co-founders of the Blackstar Squadron. We are a Battlestar Galactica Costuming Club and we too are going to be attending the Comic Con and will be using the 2010 con to officially launch us into the public.

We are going to have as many Warriors there as we can...but if that scares some of you then maybe you should stay home...

I think witht he movie coming and being at least based on the original concept for Battlestar, we all have a great opertunity here. The larger the group of Cylons and Warriors we get,t eh more we can recruit and more we can do (blackstar will be collecting for charities in the vain of the 501st)

Depending on my work load for that time of year ...... A/C Contractor, I might be able to make a trek from Louisiana to California.

I am still modding my overall suit and feel I am nearly screen accurate. I am lacking the "real" Back Pack and belt.

I think the big push for planning this whole shindig needs to start this month. I don't think we'll be able to scrape up enough money to get a table on the floor. It will cost about $800.00! I think it would be awesome, we could really deck the place out! We might have to settle for a fan booth on the mezzanine level. Not as highly visible, but its a start. Either way I'm pledging $100.00 to start with towards it all. We'll see where it goes from there.

Any ideas on how we could really make the booth pop?

But, you are right we need to get the ball rolling on this. I can supply GoldCylon with art, and he knows a place to have banners made up... we've talked about that all ready. What else is typically at a booth?
