Thank you!
Good question... the mask will be made of flexible lifelike silicone, so it shouldn't weight so much...
The heaviest part would be the headpiece I suppose, because it'll be made of resin.

Hummmm.... You got me thinking more now about the costume as a whole now - SORRY lots of questions ahead
LIGHTS
What are the plans for you I.L.'s electric system? Will you have LEDs in the eyes, or bulbs?
It probably goes without saying the 1978 costume had light bulbs. Are you planning on staying true to that? Or are you going for a modern LED option - cooler running, better power consumption, etc. etc.
Will the head contain the entire electric system? Or will you run wires down to a belt or are you planning on some other "not in the head" power supply location?
Just wondering how all the parts will go together vs. a Centurion.
SOUNDS
Any plans for an internal sound system to play quotes from a MP3 player/SD Card? When on "display" on the throne you could work an awesome sound system into the throne's base.
Keep up the GREAT work - and keep snapping photos

No problem, I'll try to answer them as best as I can...
LIGHTS
The glowing effect of the eyes will be achieved by using LED's. As a nice side effect, they won't get as hot as light bulbs, which also helps preserving the mask for any melt damages.
The mask had two clear glass marble eyes which were wired to illuminate, as you can see in the picture of the remains of the original screen-used mask I've posted recently. I think they used some kind of bulbs to light the eyes back then, too.
I suppose the mask offers enough space to house the whole electronics used to power the eyes. But I've to talk again with my pal about that.
The assembling/adduction of the costume would be very easy compared to the Centurion.
Step one: Slip the robe over, which will be closed with velcro or a zipper.
Step two: Put the mask and the headpiece on and switch-on the eyes... and now you're finished to rule the Cylon empire!
SOUNDS
I don't have anything planned of integrating sounds into the display... but that would be a nice idea at all... I'll have to think about that...

To ease the waiting time before a new update of the Leader's coming up, I thought I'd post a few pics of the costume sketch of our eminence penned by Jean-Pierre Dorl

Here's the latest update for the Imperious Leader:
First of all, the negative mold came out great.
On the contrary, the first attempt of making a cast out of it wasn't very successful, because it wasn't dried properly.
Nevertheless, we've now an object to work with to make various tests like painting, where and how to install the electronics for the eyes etc.
The latter we've done to achieve a little sense of success.

In my opinion, it doesn't look bad at all... surely, it's still just a test, but it delivers a good impression of how the eyes will look like (in the final version, the cat's eye-styled slit in the pupils will be added, too).
Sorry again for the low-quality pic, but I'd to take it again with my mobile phone...
I hope I can deliver better news after my next visit...

NICE WORK! Are the Leader's eyes yellow? or green? I thought they were more greenish... but I've been wrong about color before (Baltar's helmet! OOPS)
P.S. He's a CYLON! - get it ... only one eye... ha ha.... okay, that was pretty lame. Sorry!
