My Fiberglass Cylon Project

Post by womo68 » Thu Sep 04, 2008 10:44 pm

Hi Guys,

I happened to get one of those fiberglass copies from an original production used suit (not sure if it was filed used or not) before they hit eBay a few years ago. HOW

Good work Womo.

My fibre glass shoulder bells are similarly flawed, but fortunately I have another accurate set.

My helmet's grill is also askew so I would be happy to buy one off you.

Also I have yet to get my armour vacuum metallized so I would be keen to hear more about your preparation and eventual process

Hi Cybertrooper,

I need to get a hold of some shoulder bells as well. I also reworked the grill a bit. Mine came uneven and just horrible.

I'm not sure I would sell these...I just wanted to learn something new...and boy did I!

I'd have to see how the pulls come out because I'm definitely not going to sell it in the same shape that it came to me!

Cheers Womo. Of course I respect your right to decide whether to make any further items for sale - I will just have to look elsewhere!

Looking at your photos it appears that the grill in your helmet (I assume that is the original) has the similar uneven flaws as mine. I thought that it may have been a sloppy pull, but looks like a poor original casting was made.

Good luck with your endeavours!

hey cybertrooper....if you don't mind me asking...where did you get the accurate shoulder bells?

I don't mind selling some stuff...I just want to make sure the part is accurate, looks good and is fairly priced!

thanks!

Those bells might be a bit closer in size, and style than other bells that you might have, but they are still off a bit. Minor work needs to be done, and yes I do mean minor.

Hi Womo,
I bought most of a set of armour back in 2006. It lacked the helmet and three belt pieces. The remaining finish of the metallising was pretty worn. The shoulder bells had a pivotting rivet which held the two pieces together. Sorry I think the seller was a disaffected spouse - they never replied to many queries and failed to post ebay feedback.

Cheers,

Definite progress, Depending on the ruggedness of the ABS suit..Fiberglass may be a nice alternative for some of the pieces. I wish your project the best of luck and in the end hopefully you'll have something known for its greatness!...

Then we all can too hehe.

An update would be cool, but it seems like the project is "off" ??
