Cylon Raider - external stores?
I read somewhere that the Raider could carry externally-mounted weapons if required. I don't think I ever saw this in any of the BSG episodes, although if these ships could flatten a city one would imagine that they would need something more powerful than just their cannons (bombs or missiles?).
Thoughts/opinions?

I could see how that would look/happen... but like you said - "why" - the Raiders can, in mass, flatten cities - or take out a Battlestar with enough hits/death squadron runs.
I could see some sort of "super bomb" attached... so a single Raider (or a handful) could go and totally wipe out something. However, the Classic Cylons were always more about HUGE numbers to overwhelm the Colonials. Like a bee, one or two - so what.... one or two hundred - RUN!!!

I never heard or saw of any external bombs, missals on a Raider, but on the attack on the Galactica episode " Fire in Space" the Raiders were thought to have been packed with solonite. That caused a massive explosion on impact on the bridge and the Alpha Landing Bay. While the damage on the bridge was major the fire was put out with the fire suppression unit already I stalled while the fire was completely out of control on the landing bay. No note was ever made of other weapons.

True. Might make an interesting "concept weapon" for someone skilled in scratchbuilding (as an accessory to one of the Cylon Raider kits).

They've also mentioned some pluton poisoning weaponry used during the attack on Caprica in "Saga of a Star World".
Sounds like it's part of this enhanced armament as well...

Yes the pluton might be a additive added into the laser pump system.
In the DVD extra's that were cut the pluton aspect of the food poisoning, and also how it was also part of some peoples ailments. Serena was a victim of the radiation poisoning, but that was cut to save her for a few more hours, and then she was finally kicked off in the 5th hour of the session.
On an other note in the RDM NuBSG the laser blast was never used, but bullets, small explosive, and nukes were the weapons of choice. For the most part weapons of today were the weapons of choice.

Just recalled where I read about this:
http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Raider_(TOS)
...which references an episode of TOS where the external weapon option is apparently mentioned.

The link is just missing the last ")" ... you can tell it's not colored red. The forum can't guess every link on the web.GoldCylon wrote:Slater wrote:Just recalled where I read about this:
