Layered ultracal is a plaster like stone. Magic sculpt is an epoxie based clay that I use for repairs chips ect. Or you can use it to sculpt ie insignias.

Sounds very cool. I have used an other brand of the rock like plaster. I never though of using at as a base then clay as the detail material. Great insight on how you go about your work. Thanks.

I neen a calibration measurement from the thinnest part of the mowhawk above the eye and one at the top corner of the mowhawk.
I'm feeling this area may be to wide. I may have to recut it in half to remove a 16 th or so.
The chin would be nice also.

I don't have a calibration tool but I do have a sticky roll tape measure. I can wrap the tape and take a photo of the area.

I would greatly appreciate that. I found a black grill spacer in my suit kit and so far I'm off.

That resin piece used to space the grill back a bit I always just heat up and twist to fit the area since it isn't true.
I was having a problem with my good camera earlier today. The camera was clicking and flashing but the pictures I just took weren't on the memory card. If I am still having a problem it will be iPhone photos a post on the width of the Mohawk.

Re: Skullbeast - building a Cylon
The TapaTalk image hosting site removed them, or deleted them. Those photos were uploaded while using the Smart Phone app. He doesn't have control over them once they are posted on the TapaTalk web site. I wish we could have them hosted here, but Cylon-Knight doesn't see a way to configure that setting. Just an other small bug in the app. At least in the short term they can be posted on TapaTalk.comRed Eye wrote:I can't see any pictures here.![]()

I have come to the conclusion that the inside of the vacuforms (of the helmet) where the sharp edges are is actually the outside of a hero, I may need to do some reverse engineering.
By the measurements the outside seam is off over an eighth. The inside is much closer.

Nice thought on the back ground grill being reversed engineered but I have to say no. The photos I posted are the back ground grill. I'll break out the Hero metal grill and the sticky tape measure and take front back and side views to show off the details. I do agree with Cylon-Knight your work is outstanding as stand alone art. Also food for thought you are trying to make a helmet that did shrink a tad to fit a full sized grill if you are trying to spec it off the photos I posted.
