Mego The Black Hole Radio Controlled V.I.N.CENT. Prototype 0171 viewsIn 1980 Mego had planned to issue a line of large size remote controlled robots that would be state of the art compared to any robot toy issued to that point. The first of these figures was to be V.I.N.CENT.. After spending a reported $100,000 for two working prototypes, it became apparent that the retail cost of such a toy would be too high for the general public and the line was cancelled. The 8" magnetic V.I.N.CENT. is shown for scale.

Mego The Black Hole Radio Controlled V.I.N.CENT. Prototype 0268 viewsPictured is one of two prototype produced by Mego. Saved by a former employee, who stated that the other V.I.N.CENT. was destroyed during the last days of Mego, it is an incredible piece to behold. Looks like the owner got confused with the robots and named him "Bob".

Mego The Black Hole 1980 Toy Fair Showroom62 viewsThis rare photo of the 1980 Mego showroom gives a glimpse of what Mego had to offer at Toy Fair 1980. This photo not only shows Black Hole toys that were never released to market but also gives us a first look of what the box for remote controlled V.I.N.CENT. would have looked like. Also note the "Buck Rogers" Starfighter Pilot costume on the mannequin at the right.
