Hands down, the under suit is THE hardest part of a Classic Cylon to get right.
What do you think is the second hardest part/item for a Classic Cylon to get right?

Cylon in flip-flops - wow - that is a caption contest right there!
I agree, the scanner eye is THE most iconic element of all things "Cylon" (and Knight Rider 8))

If you get everything right, probably the only people who will notice are the other guys who are wearing Cylon suits of their own.
I think he's right, if you have the helmet and the moving eye, nobody notices much else.
Flip-flops may be a bit too far, but just regular black boots and nobody would know the difference. Same for the undersuit to tell you the truth. Just wearing something black under the armor would do it for the casual observer, or even to fans of the show that don't pay that much attention to detail.
I can't say that my costume is 100% accurate, but it looks good to me. Having fun with it is more important in my book. I understand the desire for complete accuracy and detailing, but if you go too far with that, you'll be afraid to wear the thing out of fear of damaging something.

One thing thought of for a quick cheap under suit is buy a full body suit in plum color, and then spray paint the area in black over sewing it on. It would pass in a photo or a walk by, but up close you would be given a thumbs up for thinking out side the box.
