KITTS tow bar

Post by goldcylon1 » Sun Feb 03, 2019 10:55 am

We all know there were multiple KITTS. I wonder what the tow bar was for under the front of the car ?

I believe it was used for exactly that.

The shots of Michael driving around had a camera mounted to the front bar from time-to-time. Or the car was towed and filmed from the tow truck. I know a Knight Rider insider that I'll verify with, but I'm pretty sure it was that. Just easier, and cheaper, to leave it on than always vs remove it... a little inconsistent to the hero car but, hey, it's TV in the 80s! :D

Also probably helped stunt cars from crushing the custom front bumper totally after every stunt. Could probably patch instead of replacing with the bar's help.

I agree it had to help the front end a bit. I noticed on some jump sequencing KITTs headlights are taped down with electrical tape. I also notice for “some” of the turbo boost sequences it appears to be an interior skinned lighter car with a KITT surround. Must have played hell with the KITT fleet with all those jumps
