Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy 2 authentic, Original Series Cubits for my BSG display. Anyone here have any for sale or point me in the right direction to find a set? Even 1 Cubit would be fine for now. Any condition other than destroyed... Thanks! :salute:

You see them now and then on eBay. The going price is $99 for a pair. I'd get a email alert for them. You should have a pair by Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the reply! I have a alert on ebay for them already and I was hoping someone here might have a few lying around. $100 is what I was hoping for in price but I can go higher if a trusted member here has any.

Thanks again!
Bryan

Make sure you buy from a reputable dealer and there's a COA included from an accredited source. There have been too many fake cubits made over the years, of varying qualities. Some of them look really good - probably either generationally close to originals or made from original molds, if they existed beyond production. I remember seeing a picture somewhere, long ago, showing different types, both real and fake. Can't remember - it might be in the gallery here. It may be worth a look before you pull the trigger on an auction, especially if you are made to pay $100 for them.

I'll throw in a slight adjustment to the page pointing how to spot a fake, except not how but how many. There were thousands made, and a few different colors. The first batch was not gold colored enough, and a 2nd box was ordered. I have seen over 1000 of them in one single box, and that 1 of 2 of the boxes. I have posted photos of them in the past. :cylongold:

Although this was advertised as a reproduction, it sure looks real to me... In fact, it looks like the second cubit in that pic from the above link.

Yes, indeedy! :salute:

I guess the thing to look for is the "chips" in the texture - they seem to have 4 ribbed raised bars in each chip. The fakes don't, they're just featureless rectangles. Even the "defect" versions seem to have these ribbings still remotely visible, whereas the fakes are completely flat.

It's obvious the Cubit on the Right is a reproduction but what about the Cubit on the Left?

Also, do original Cubits have mold seams around their outer edges? Thanks!

The details on the left Cubit looking quite sharp so it might be an original.

Not so sure about the mold lines...

PiH sold a bunch of 35 Cubits back in 2010 and there seems to me no such lines:

To me neither one of the two side by side are original.
As for those listed in the PiH auction those sold way below the going rate. The buyer did real good on that purchase.

Does anyone know whether or not original cubits were plated metal?
