Groupleaderzeta's other projects and experiments
Here I will post other projects and experiments I am doing. A some will know I am always trying new things.
To start of the thread a side project you might like I did a copy of the Stallone judge dredd helmet from the movie. The pepakura file that is passing around has many flaws. I believe it was made from a comic dredd helmet Model. So I redid the 3D model to be closer to the screen used. her is what I have, the paper model has been test built.

I use lexan about 1/16 inch thick. I will use automotive window tint for the main part and the bottom edge will be frosted by clear paint.

visor experiment..
I decided to see if I could make the visor see through like I did in the grill slot. I think the experiment has promise giving what materials I had on hand.
Marked off what to cut out..
Rough cut..
vid of results

Very cool. A few of my local costuming buddies have been working on the original, and the new versions of these helmets. The new one. Ack you can't see out of. Nor sure what they are going to do to fix that, but you have a great looking helmet so far. Good work.

Re: Groupleaderzeta's other projects and experiments
After many years of doing other things, I decided to get back to robotics. I have many Ideas and projects in mind but thought I should start small to see how much I remember. Costuming will be secondary now. I will still be working on V3 eye and sell them.
So here I present my bot named RED.
What he will do is run free until he comes to a obstacle, Then will look to both sides with his sensor turret to find a clear path. He will decide where the clear path is, turn in that direction, and go on his marry way until the next obstacle.
I am using a Parallax Propeller controller, running at 8Mhz. He will have a Sharp GP2Y0A2YK IR Infrared Range Sensor in the turret to detect obstacles. The chassis is a Re-purposed spy gear ATV 360. He tips the scale at about 2 pounds (30 Oz). Runs on 9 Volts by 6 AA cells. The body and turret was handmade in sheet styrene plastic.
Here is a vid of RED running a demo program to test drive motors and turret servo. No sensor is mounted in the turret.
For those that never seen a spy gear ATV 360, here is a pic.

Now is the time to get into model building. Make a Land ram body and put it on Red. Looks great.

Goldcylon,
The more I think about it, I just might do that.
With the simple programming of object detection. It just may be interesting. I always did like the unarmed cargo version.

That looks great. The Razor version of the Land Ram has a snow blade on it. As seen in the landing bay after the Cylon Raider crashed in the bay. Well after Starbuck blasted it.

Looks GREAT indeed!
A radio-controlled Landram would be another cool item to have back in 1978, by the way.
It would have been a better choice than the radio-controlled Cylon Raider we got instead.
