ok Centurions we're off running.
I Got this old Cora helmet off ebay (not from him). My whole suit + a 2nd helmet is on the way from Cora, the base star will be arriving soon. I was looking at the mouth grill and I was thinking it looked a bit "doughy". I checked out some old black and white cylon pics and I felt that I needed to sharpen it up. I cast up an ultracal buck right out of the form, then started to shape it to the pictures with a rasp and file.
pics are in the works

Right down it when the package arrives. Very cool start you going there for yourself. One thing is that there were 2 different mouth grills. A hero version that was metal with sharp edges. Then a back ground grill that was vacformed and it had soft edges. The Cora version is the correct back ground version. The bronze Cylon Vulpa mouth grill isn't screen used and is a fan made grill. Poor choice to use on your study piece. Still your work looks great.
Now that CD I haven't heard it before but have talked with the guy selling it. Seems like a guy wiggling his way though just tossing something out to sell because he couldn't answer any question I had for him a year ago. The sample file he sent me didn't work either just reinforcing he doesn't have a clue what he is doing.

Good to know! The crisp version I've always liked. Any good ref of the metal one?

AWESOME Skullbeast! Much better than the grill I tried to make

Love the new grill you made off of the Cy and the Promo Pic... Vupla's grill not being original is still a great one to reference. It is in a screen used helmet, so you can't get any closer.
PM me your email address, I have a eye sound that will put that CD to shame (is that even possible!?

haha)

You've done great work on your new mouthpiece. It really looks like a production-used piece!
Mine needs to be reworked a bit as well, whenever I get my helmet back...
There was a helmet sold at screensued.com which still had the original metal mouthpiece:

They also had a plastic mouthpiece and visor not so long ago:

Thanks red eye! My buddy's working on some killer eye chaser for me based on these flat super bright LEDs that we use on film robots. You can't even stare at them long at all. If all goes well we may be able to share or better. I think I'm going to pick up a hyperdyne to play with for now until he's finished though.

Hello everyone,
Shameless plug
I have a better version of a cylon eye in the BYC.net store. Its cheaper and smaller than the hyperdyne unit.

( 2.5 hours on the helmet so far) I got some work done. the grill is a temp. I still need to putty the seams.
The dark lines are pencil.
Zeta - ok, I give your eye a shot. i'll give you a pm tomorrow.

Looks great so far!
Are you going to fill in the seams at the mohawk to get a one-pieced helmet or do you want a screen-accurate one (two-pieced with chrome tape hiding the seams)?

I'm gonna fill em in softly! My
Mouth Line looks uncentered even though it was cut on the line.
After typing that I'm undecided.
I may put up a poll to see how you guys feel about Mohawk seams.
My gut is telling me to fill em in. The tape looks a bit hackish to me, my eyes just hang on it, eventhough it doesn't read on video.

WOW! Great workshop... I see the Centurion head has some great company. AND IS THAT G1980 playing in the background? Or am I mistaken?! Looks like Troy back there.
How did you attach the
scanner insert to the helmet?

The helmet is looking good, and as for the seem fil lit in, and if you change your mind just tape right over it later.
