Thank you CylonKnight.
The seller tried to sell this costume three times or so before.
I think he should have taken more time for his research to assure an accurate look of the mask. The paint job is miles away from the original as well.
For me, the only good thing about it are the dark red leather "scale"-appliqu

Red Eye, how is our Illustrious Leader doing?
I know these projects take time, and tend to sit untouched from time-to-time (like my Centurion

) BUT, I thought I'd ask if there was any new info as your project is just so excellent and unique.

Thanks again for your kind words.
I wish I could post the pictures we had taken during my last visit by my pal who's doing the mask for me.
But he hadn't get in touch with me within the promised two weeks.
It's sad that he isn't a very reliable person... but as soon as he does get in touch you're the first to know, I promise.
All I can say is that the second try of making a cast out of the mold was successfull this time.
Both glowing eyes are also installed and the first paint was applied for testing.
But the paint was way too pale so we have to use another one (forgot the name, but he said that that kind of paint where usually used for monsters or creatures like the dinosaurs from "Jurassic Park" etc.)

Sounds very good. Good to hear there is some progress. Wow, can't wait to see the paint - being on par with movie materials it should be an awesome sight to behold!
How are the robes and throne going... that is another person/you working on them right? (Not your mask maker friend.)

I saw some progress photos of the chair a while back. It looked great.

Yes, the throne is in the works by my grandfather (who also did the Cylon rifle and pistol for me before) and the robe will be made by my mother.
But there are no progress on both things so far.
But not to worry, I'll keep you updated on this, too.

Finally, I've got some news for the Imperious Leader:
Today, I've finally received a phone call from my pal.
The headpiece is almost finished now, but it will be very heavy because it's made of wire.
Again, there's bad news for the mask. He used too much paint on it so that all finer details where gone after painting.
So he has to make a new cast and start the painting from scratch again.
He also stated that I might be able to pick up the completed mask and headpiece on mid August.
Pictures will follow soon.

Very cool news! Can't wait for the photos. Was the paint from a spray - or airbursh?

It was airbrush.
The paint is based on silicone like the mask itself.

Hummmm, so, if the paint is going on then the electric (eye lights) system is probably done? Did you have details on that? What type of power does it use and where is it located (in the mask, or will wires run elsewhere... and where is the switch for the lights?

I think he removed the eyes and the electric before painting.
Once it's finally installed in the finished mask we have to look of how to switch the eyes on and how it will be powered.
For now, we have connected the eyes to a transistor so we can dim the lights in the eyes.

Did the original mask have lighted eyes that dimmed?

Do you want to be able to dim them... or are you just trying to make the bulbs/LEDs not shine so bright all of the time?
Being able to brighten them up could be cool... when the IL gets upset they glow more intense!

I don't know, but I don't think so.
Strangely, on most of the publicity stills the lighted eyes are switched off, anyway...

No, we've only connected them to the transistor to find out what grade of lighting would be the right one.
I think they should only glow in a very gently green.
When the glow is too much, it would rather look silly than intimidating or awesome, I'm afraid.
