I wonder if the ears were somewhat flexible and got bent and unbent (if that's a word!) as production went on. If you had some "stand in" fabric, silver & fur you could experiment with the layout.

I think Brian's ears are bendable the way he is working his style, while my version isn't. If I could made mine so they could bend I wouldn't mind, but it isn't going to be a great concern at all. Trying to get them to look right is the only concern.
