Looking at my original screen used gloves , they don't seem like dye, but paint. They also has a few chips in them, and I don't dye chips, but if you want to try dye, I guess any black shoe rub on dye would work. Just a guess on my part.

I will experiment with a black leather dye and see how it comes out.

If you get a chance can you take a few photos of the work steps. Like the before, and after and the steps along the way to the finished product. To post on here to let others see what you did.

Ok...I will post some pics here soon.....but I have to tell of my results. I used some dye I purchased at a Tandy Leather Store. It is made by FIEBINGS and is USMC Black. I applied the first coat which really went on smooth and covered the glove very well. I let it dry for over 2 days and came back and found that when I rubbed my finger over the leather that would be on the top of the wrist of the glove (the one with Cooper stamped over it) and it just wiped right off. It seems the rest of the glove is holding onto the dye fairly well. Any ideas on how to get the dye to hold on the wrist band?

This wrist band section is covered by the same material the under suit is made out of.

The piece I am speaking of is the padded piece that has COOPER printed on it...it is a leather type material.....

One of the guys that worked at Universal Studio's theme park sent me some photos he took years ago. These photos were from the old Transformer attraction that Universal had, and I was looking at the gloves, and to tell you the truth from what I can see these are Cylon gloves. At least that is what they look like. Check out the new Transformer photo gallery to see more of these cool photos

That is sweet! 2 of the guys I am working with now worked on the new Transformers movie as Set Dressers. I tried to get on that show but was tied up on another one at the time. It looks like it is going to be a good summer as movies go!

Yeah I have my sites on seeing the movie on opening day. Too bad you weren't able to work the set, but did your friends on the set have a few photos they might be willing to share here, or maybe a story or things they might be willing to say about the filming of the movie?

Well it is a long time since gloves have been discussed.
C1-978, how did your dye attempts finish up?
Plus Dale you might be able to help, some pictures I have seen where people have what looks like tape on the wrist band of the gloves. Some times black, some times silver/chrome. So my question is, is this accurate or a fan modification.
Thanks, Patrick

first very good catch on the cuff trim. 2nd I laugh when I see gloves with chrome trim. The surprise to the answer what is the corret trim in the material used in the patch work, and piping used for the under suit.

What tool is best to cut off the cuff part of the gloves with? Exacto knife, heavy duty scissors or what?
If painted is the paint hand applied with brush or spray painted? Any suggestions on a paint to use? Or is it best to dye with a black leather dye?
