I went back studying the DVD's (particular the close-up shots of Lucifer and Specter in "The Young Lords") and came to realize that the top mouth lights consisted of 6-7 bulbs/LED's...
...while the lower bar were made of 5 lights:
Hope it helps.

Good eye. I noticed it varied by angle also. I was going to go with average 6, top and bottom.
But this sounds better. Thanks again Red Eye

Hm, not so sure about that.
It's hard to see on photos or screencaps indeed, but I'd paint it maroon/dark red.
And no, the IL's don't had any sound for the eye scanners. Poor guys...

Are you sure the color is not just a lighting trick?......The cinematogrophers used alot of camera tricks when they filmed that series....I know for a fact that the sparkley lights and laseer blasts were filmed with a diffuser filter and lighting can have a great effect on color and perception...Color Lighting can be focused and directed on a subject during a scene without that same lighting being casted on the other subjects.
What looks like random movement to us can be very choreographed movement......"Hit your mark"
are there any refrence pics that are not dark? like the scenes in the young lords?

Yes, there's some reference of the screen-used head earlier in this thread.

Does anyone know how many LEDs are in each of Lucifer's eyes?

Now this is just my opinion so don't beat me up,.. but ...take a real close look......His cloke collar is very reflective and pink ...it appears the cheeks are a rose colored and as your eyes move to the center of his face it is the same Silver color as Lucifer.....I could be wrong....
I looked at it again and I don't think it's the same as Lucifer so scratch that.

Getting a dead on color match to the original is impossible. It has changed - if you had access to it. It was filmed under unknown lighting conditions, the film was altered, degraded or who knows what. AND THEN it was broadcasted to glass television sets of the late 70s. Today's images are film left over's on DVD from the original filmed prints, or early VCR recordings limited to broadcast quality.
I think it's best to watch the show, get a feel for the character and it's look/intended look. What you see on screen and then remember later on. Not what it "really" looked like and the pantone color that was used in 1978 too paint it (UNLESS that is written down somewhere and Indiana Jones can find it). Going with the intended look and fell I think you'll be happiest with your final result.

Well I have posted a few natural light photos that are close enough, but then if he is going off the shelve in a shaker can who cares. It is now just good enough guess over trying to blend 3-5 colors into what is ultimately a guess though deduction anyway.
