Then perhaps you should go for a golden Cylon Commander costume, because the undersuit they wore were all black.

I thought about that - but when you think (classic) Cylon the first one that comes to mind is the silver Centurion. OH dear... Maybe I need to make both! heehee  I'd rather have silver armor... the black suit is just due to the plum is too hard to find.

Or do you think that this would be okay? Not too purple?

It's hard to see in pictures.

But I think your purple fabric is the closest color match to the original suits, so I'd going to make a purple suit if I where you.

Here is my sample from nashslash... next to a light gray vinyl for patches maybe?? No. Too light.

Here is my sample from nashslash... next to a darker gray vinyl for patches maybe?? It is okay I think.

I've noticed that Centurions also seem to have to different colors for patches - arms are gun metal gray - legs are black???

Here is my sample from nashslash... next to a the only fabric I could find in the store that was close to the color of the plum. This fabric is not lycra and it has a slight shine to it. It is a tad too purple, but close. The lady helping me said that lcyra is more for dance/and swimware... so that is why stores mostly stock bright colors like yellow, pink, sky blue, etc. in lycra.

Now, the store DID have black in fabric, and in vinyl. I think I will make my entire under suit out of balk. Fabric, ribbings, patches - everything. Some day when maybe I can find the right color stuff, I'll make a second and better suit - after learning on the first all back suit.

That is... unless any Cylons out there have a fabric source they can share with the other Centurions looking for the right fabrics.
CK-

Did Nashslash say where he originally got that fabric?

He got it locally (the UK). And I dont' think there is much more to be had. *sigh* why do we Cylon's have it so rough?! ;)

SO - an all black under suit with chrome armor - doesn't look that bad.
Check out this figure I found tonight - he's got on all black...

Yeah, that's the look I remember most as a kid. All the Cylon toys had black undersuits, so I'm used to that look. Granted it's not screen accurate, but for a costume I do kinda like it.

I am just noticing that Cylon has a very strange look to it, except the back pack that looks like a Krop Cylon.

Yeah, toys are never that correct. His sword looks more like a dagger too... and the boots are all sorts of silly.

There was another bid on them when I placed my winning/higher bid - if it was another Cylon here... sorry

Looking good so far. Lets see how they turn out after a trim and paint or dye job.

I GOT THE GLOVES! Love em. I just did a quick video to see if I could do one really...ha.
Below is a post to the link. I added some Cylon Music ;)
I'm wearing the left glove and flexing the fingers. You can see how they bend or DO NOT bend - i.e. the thumb. At the ending when I close all the fingers to like a fist - that is a lot of effort due to the old leather!

Let me know if the video works for anyone - it is an MP4 format.

They really look a lot more flexible than others I have seen, so feel lucky you can move them around.

YIKES! Yeah, they are not "that bad" for being almost as old as I am *blush* haha

I plan to go to a shoe/boot repair shop and ask them about treating the leather to give it more flex and for tips on how to color it. It didn't work out to go this weekend. Maybe one night this week I'll get over to the store.

Looks good so far.

Are you going to paint or dye them?

I've painted my gloves with simple black spray paint, after I've cleaned them up with soap sud of course. It also helps to assure that the paint will hold up better.

But what still worries me is that the paint cracks slightly at certain areas during the movement of my hand.
