Dale did you see the red and blue busts. They were actually made of rubber. He charged the customer

Me too... its an nail biting time waiting.

Paul did take the time to examine most of the pieces I took to him. And said that the finish was great. He also said that any small or tiny imperfections would not be noticeable because each piece was lackered prior to being coloured. I sanded and finished them using 600 grit wet and dry paper. I was worried about the weight of the fibreglass lid and backpack. I mounted metal supports to them so they could be held in the chamber. He took one look and said they were fine. He told me that people had tied string to items they wanted chroming before. The vacuum chamber is a lot bigger than I imagined. Its about 1.5 M X 1M approx

WOW! If he could do a set of armor for $411 of our dollars, I think it would be worth it to mail it overseas if Dale is saying it's 4 times that much money to get them done here in the U.S.

...and that was even including an extra helmet for you!

I would be up for it, but then I'd have to get another set of armor and make it perfect first.

Yes that it was I was thinking, but then the tariffs might might out that savings also. Import, and export aren't cheap. I have heard back via some nasty letters blaming ME (LoL) for the taxes on items I have sold to eBay buyers in the UK. Some reason they thought I was the tax man when all I did was sell it. So research the cost, because the chromer might just refuse it because of the cost, and then it will come right back to you the same way it went out.

A good idea would be to see how my armour turns out, if the results are really good then I could ask Paul (at VMC) if he could post overseas?

I have found that people not really wanting to do something for you sometimes charge more to put you off. maybe this is the reason its more expensive over there?

I've been helping a friend out by making his crap-trooper.... I mean yet another stormtrooper... how original......

I'd really have to say a stormtrooper is easy though. I think this is my fifth now? I done all the glueing and O2 tank in about 2 hours. I have to wait for my friend to come round now to do the trimming/fitting fit the velcro and make the webbing. 2 day job MAX..

Stormtroopers are like Cylons, the more of them you have in a group, the cooler they look.

The most I have seen in a group of Cylons is 4 in a photo. A local guy here (the newest member) Brian has pulled his buddies together, and myself and we are going to try to show up to next years SD Comic Con. The plan is 6 of us, and me in gold. That would be the single biggest gathering of Cylon costumes that I am aware of since the breaking up of the screen used original suits. I am sure there are plenty of fans of the Cylons to put a suit on, but like everyone here already knows the bottom line cost is about 3-6 times great than a trooper. The timing if we are able to put this together would awesome because in that 1 year Bryan Singer should have everything in motion for a return of the original Galactica on screen.

Also while building a trooper I've been doing some other Cylon type things.

Firstly Jim was kind enough to send through some paper templates of the leg detail. Since then I have copied these in styrene so that I have a hard copy and they wont get damaged.

Also I'm currently looking for the material to build my undersuit from. A supplier has sent through a sample and its pretty close so far to the original. Its called Macadam in colour...
This vinyl is for the detail work patches and for the tubing ...
