Does anyone have a good 3D Printable Centurion Helm

Post by LordStarFyre » Thu Jan 16, 2020 2:38 am

Hi

I have been looking for a good 3D printable model of the Centurion Helmet. As screen accurate as possible. Even better if the grill and eye section are separate elements (Maybe a 3D scan of one of the kits?)

There's a couple floating around on thingverse that are close, but no cigar.

Also looking for a good version of the Viper Helmet (same problem as above)

I don't have one, but we need to track some down and host them here - on By Your Command.net!

I know a 3D modeler... I'll have to try and challenge him with some Classic BSG goodness (and badness :cylon:).

I’m currently in the process of modelling all the cylon parts in 3D for printing.
My only concern is the chroming process requires a lot of heat once printed and prepped for that lovely toaster look. This may cause the whole thing to warp or sag when in the oven. Strengthening with resin may be the answer, but who wants a heavy lid?

I’m nearly finished with the helmet and once done I will post on here. Sadly that thing called work gets in the way!

The back pack, I’ve gone for as near as possible to the original, and stayed well away from the Krop look!

The Chrome can he done as a chemical process like a mirror it doesn't generate any heat, it's typically called hydrochrome.

Sadly there’s no one local in the UK that offers that service. It’s hideously expensive for those that do.

I have most of the files done. I’m working on the last part now... the lid.

Watch this space.

Absolutely. I’m having a couple of issues with the lid as it’ll print from one piece, unlike the krop which is two pieces. The nose /mouth vent will be incorporated into it. Depending on supplier I’m trying to make the roving eye slide into a recess with clips rather than be glued in, so can be removed if service is needed. I will also use the
Mohawk as an air intake from the rear, and use a partition within the top of the Lid to Chanel fresh cool air which will blow from above. With work and all it’s a very slow process, but I’m hoping to have done soon.
