Re:
It is weird. The onscreen title has been changed; in the broadcast run, it was always "Galactica 1980." It was still "Galactica 1980" in the Goodtimes VHS release of The Return of Starbuck, but that episode has likewise been altered for the DVD.Galactifan wrote:Hey, I noticed that some of the episodes have a "Galactica 1980" title sequence (pilot part 1 and 2) while others say "Battlestar Galactica" (pilot part 3 and all remaining episodes) on the opening titles. Weird?
Strange. It's not as if they were trying to fool anyone, since the packaging all says Galactica 1980.

Actually the title was not altered for the DVD. At some point in syndication the Galactica 1980 titles were changed to Battlestar Galactica. The series did not air in syndication in my area, but I was visiting someone in 1991 and the show aired on a Sunday morning and I was shocked to see the Battlestar title on a G80 episode.Hope It's The Grog wrote:It is weird. Those same prints also aired on the Sci-Fi channel back in the day, and on Canada's Space The Imagine Station channel.

Hmmm. That was probably just shortly after the Goodtimes release. If the unaltered episodes no longer exist, I guess that makes the VHS a rare bird.

I remember my bootleg set too! It was awful with screen messages having been blurred and the images of the actors looking very jumpy and false! So glad we have the real deal these dats and maybe one day i'll get around to actually rewatching the series!!!
