Buck Rogers in the 25th Century on Blu-ray

Post by Croft2014 » Mon May 25, 2015 2:37 am

I'd love to get this series on BD, but sadly Koch Media in Germany have released it as standard defintion on BD. great for the saving of space, but the picture quality is not improved at all.

Actually it was released by Ascot Elite Home Entertainment, not Koch Media.

The entire series is set for release down under on August 17th, 2016. My guess is this will be a true HD release, not like the SD on HD discs from Germany.

The theatrical cut of the pilot is also included, but sadly this is in the listing: Theatrical Version of the Pilot episode (in Standard Definition)

VERY interesting indeed!

Can't wait to take some HD screencaps from it once it gets released...

I'd buy it. I haven't seen Buck in so long. I guess I finally held out long enough.

Madman has what's listed for the blu ray set. I'm disappointed that appears Awakening is the cut two part episode version instead of the TV movie cut. Same with Flight Of The War Witch. At least War Witch has the TV movie version included, even though it's in SD. I'm excited to check out the isolated music & effects audio track

SEASON ONE
1. AWAKENING – PART 1
2. AWAKENING – PART 2
3. PLANET OF THE SLAVE GIRLS (Feature-length episode)
4. VEGAS IN SPACE
5. THE PLOT TO KILL A CITY – PART 1
6. THE PLOT TO KILL A CITY – PART 2
7. RETURN OF THE FIGHTING 69th
8. UNCHAINED WOMAN
9. PLANET OF THE AMAZON WOMEN
10. COSMIC WIZ KID
11. ESCAPE FROM WEDDED BLISS

15. A BLAST FOR BUCK
16. ARDALA RETURNS
17. TWIKI IS MISSING
18. OLYMPIAD
19. A DREAM OF JENNIFER
20. SPACE ROCKERS
21. BUCK’S DUEL TO THE DEATH
22. FLIGHT OF THE WAR WITCH PART 1 & 2

SEASON TWO
1. TIME OF THE HAWK (Feature-length episode)
2. JOURNEY TO OASIS (Feature-length episode)

I've preordered it. I'm hoping that the version of The Awakening is the original 98 minute compilation version as that is the version released in standard def on the R1 Season Two set a few years ago (it's not on the complete series set from 2004). Most likely they used HD masters for the Season Two set (fingers crossed).

My copy of the Madman Buck Rogers blu ray set arrived last Thursday. I've managed to make it up through Cosmic Whiz Kid. It's been a great looking set so far. I've been able to read more labels, computer screens, and notice more painted wood than ever before!

Despite what the specs say online, this set CAN be watched in a U.S. Region A player. You won't be able to access the material in the set that's in SD, but all the HD material will play with no problem.

Buying directly from Madman is just over $60 U.S., and my copy arrived 8 days after it shipped.

Sounds awesome!

Could you also post some screencaps, please?

Sorry, I have no way to make blu ray screen caps, unless I take photos directly off the TV screen.
