Hey Moore3160.....can you post some pics of the inside of your helmet.....also, could you post some pics of the straps and attachments on the armor? Is the armor above the boots attached to the boots? Please post for me! Thanks!

All the electronics are in the mohalk.

I did my straps like on my stormtrooper.
velco straps hang the sholder bells from the neck peace.
I have two straps that cross in the back to hold the chest part on.
And straps on the side from the chest peace to the backpack.
The ankle armor is riveted to the boots.
Thats it.

I always Velcro Foam in all my Helmets.
That way you can adjust it anytime and when it starts to get flat or stink from sweat you can replace it.

Does your under suit cape over your head, leaving your face exposed? If so cut an 1-2 inch thick piece of foam, and slip in under the suit on top of your head. If will give you a taller look, and also help adjust the viewing height of the vision just a bit.

WOW!! I can't believe I was at Celebration IV and didn't see you guys! Frack!!

I have always thought the Cylon suits were far more awesome than Stormtroopers!

There's something about looking at the armor and seeing nothing but your own reflection that is disturbingly eery.

I am only 6' tall, so I am not sure if I would make a good Cylon...maybe I could get some lifts for my boots? LOL!

Believe it or not lifts are used in the boots, along with a foam padding in the helmet. I am 6'4, and with the 2 inch lifts, the 1 inch foam padding in the helmet, and the tall mohawk in the center of the helmet I would be a whooping 7 ft tall also.

What is the story with your belt? It looks almost like a silver stormtroopers belt. Is the photo stretched or are my eyes playing tricks?

that belt was the only thing I could purchase on the short build time frame about 5 years ago for Halloween. I built that Cylon in a 2 month period. I was amazed how quick I tossed it all together.

Hi, Can you tell me where I can buy a cylon kit to build - preferrably chromed already. What do they normally cost? I'm not too interested in screen accurate...I just want to own the coolest scifi suit there is!

Sometimes you can find one now and then on eBay, one just sold for about $5000 if I recall correctly. Kropserkel sells a suit ready to wear. BSG.org used to sell suits, but their site is now down. Fred Barton (aka The Robot Man) Google search will find him. He has a new suit coming out, but he hasn't replied to any emails I have sent him about this build. I believe it is a 100% display piece only, not a suit you can wear. I like the Fred concept idea on how he described the Cylon on his page, but no new photos of his work. I think he might have jumped the gun announcing the suit, or has run into problems in the production. The under suit is mechanical with rods, pistons, and tubbing, not a fabric suit. I can't wait to see it. Maybe if you contact Jim aka CORA on the site here who sells kits, maybe you can ask him if he can build you one of his kits, and chrome it with a down payment.

I decided to go ahead and order the Chrome centurion helmet and sound electronics from Kropserkel. The order arrived about 2 months after ordering it. It was well worth the money, I think, for $705 U.S.
The Cylon helmet looks like a real Cylon head. The scanning eye sound is better than I could have ever hoped or dreamed, if I had tried to record and playback from the show or synthesized it myself, or whatever. The sound is THAT good, I'm totaly impressed. The ONLY thing I would change is I think the L.E.D. scanning eye needs a different dispersal lense in front of it. The eye at close range does not look like on the show, but rather, you can tell that it is L.E.D.s
Maybe they used camera tricks on the show to make it look the way it did, but I would think that there is some Fresnel material or something that I could put acroos my scanning eye to make it look more realistic. Any ideas?

The show used bulbs, that blend in better because they have afterglow, where LED just go on/off without extra circuitry.

What you could do is apply some thin dispersion material. Try different things, but you do want to keep the brightness. We have this great lamp filter stuff at work. Don't know what it's called. You have fibre material and really thin styrene like stuff. But it basically just makes the "spot" less hard. It is white however, to keep the brightness.

That reducing spot effect should do the trick.

I once built my own L.E,D. scanner for my '95 Firebird "Red Rider 2000" I made it from Radio Shack 10 mm 3000 mcd L.E.D.s and the tinted dispersal plates that mounted in cutouts flush wit the nose of the car were made from strips of Fresnel-type dispersion lens material from a plastic industrial flourescent light fixture cover, of all things! I agree that I'm sure if I spent the time to look around, I could find the "perfect" material to fix this little problem. Also I could replace kropserkel's L.E.D.s with far more powerful ones. I have some 10,000 mcd 5mm L.E.D.s identicle in everyway to the ones that come stock, except for being about 5 times more powerful. They even run off 2.1 volts at 20 milliamps, identical to previous version red L.E.D.s.
