I have seen this type of formable plastic sheets in the past, and the vinyl I have heard of. I don't think very much of this because the defects will stand out so much. You can't hide, or cover the edges at all, not even with tape. The contrast difference would be so much different that it would really stand out. My past work with chroming has made me really think about things like this stuff, that is sounds great, but when your dealing with any defects at all, the luster of the chrome blown up any defects 2 - 3 times more than if a flat color.

Thank you Dale!

Jeez - this site is a real, real fantastic resource! This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping for! Thanks!

The thing is tho - I may have misunderstood your post - is this stuff not like chrome tape? I had thought that this was like sticky back wallpaper... I could be off by a country mile tho! :D

Thanks again Sir!

Dave

If the thickness of the vinyl is like wall paper that is something new and different, but like wall paper how do you get the paper to go around a curve? It would have to be cut, and then a seam would be present. That isn't something you can hide in chrome.
