OK early planning here, but I spoke with Shawn who is the leader of the pack on forming the GalactiCon 3 gathering. He was excited to hear "The Cylon EMpire" will be present at GalacticaCon 3. He wants as many Cylon possible there since they are I believe the eye candy of the BSG show. Some of things I mentioned was a trooping, and photo gathering location. A non venders booth table, and a place for photo takes. I did speak with Janek about using one of his photos, but with a hitch. The photo used can be sold in any fashion. So the cost of the large poster print can't be recovered. On the other hand I was thinking maybe a small section of the Cylon ship or the Galactica could be built, and then we could sell photos of that. One problem with building a small set is build time. One or two people would have to arrive a day or two in advance of everyone else to off sight build the pieces, and paint them before venders were allowed entry to set up the section. I think who ever took this on would have to be there 1 week for set up, and tear down while a print is roll it out, and pop it up in 10-15 minutes. Suggestions?
I personally like the set build to sell, and recover cost, but the ease of a 15 minute set up time is a winner, but per out of pocket lost money.

Re: The Cylon Empire photo gathering
Another idea would to have the set be pre made and just shipped to the con, or Shawn... he must be local (in the TX area??).
Then it could be totally awesome with a year+ to make... lights, sounds, lazers, girls... what was I talking about again?

Re: The Cylon Empire photo gathering
The extreme cost of shipping a set like that would cost around $5000 dollars in shipping alone, and then the damage that will happen, and then repair cost makes that unrealistic. Having plans, and buying the material local is the only real avenue. Shipping the tools will run around $200 alone, so renting is the only way to go also. I doubt Shawn is willing to turn his place into a lumber yard, but maybe willing to let the build take place at his house before we would have access to the sight location.

I's love to have that price break chance myself, but we won't be getting one at all. The only thing I can say is buy your tickets NOW. The price you pay today will be most likely the half price sale. The prices go up July the 5th, and I am sure every few months. I am buying my tickets next week ti avoid anymore cost of the tickets. Also I found out this isn't a 1005 stand alone Con. It is part of Comic Palooza. So you are getting 2 for 1 price already.

Are you sure the cost covers the comic show? It seemed like that was a sister event - next door, at another expo center.
Yep, tickets go up soon. Get the early bird internet price!

You are correct. The purchase of GalactiCon 3 tickets do not allow entry into the other even.
