To all Java/J2ME/C geniouses - could we have a Java Vocoder?

Hi guys

I've been looking for something that would provide a reasonable Cylon voice effect on the cheap, but so far to no avail. I then wondered if there was a little computer you could get with a mic and a speaker that could perhaps run some realtime vocoder software.

It occured to me that there are little computers out there with mic and speakers - they're called mobile phones, but processing power is limited.

So, anyone know if it would be feasible on one of the beefier models?

Failing that, are there any other candidates out there that could do the job e.g. would a Nintendo DS have the grunt?

Regards

Paul.

I haven't heard of anything that would work as a decent Cylon voice over, except a off the shelf toy voice changers during Halloween.
