Year 2 concept art.

Post by GoldCylon » Thu Sep 17, 2009 5:41 pm

Although we never did see a true 2nd session from Galactica Glen Larsen did a pitch in mid April 1979 on what the next session would be like. Well like we all know that 2nd session never happened, but here are some of the concept art work that accompanied the pitch.

Take note of the back pack. It looks like an upside down Cylon modified back pack.

"Blah" I don't care for any of the Year 2 art... !

It looks like a totally different show/movie? Two of the ships look like Buck Rogers' "Ranger" ship - that is frozen... and the Starship from season two with the ball at the front.

Also looks like the Cylons were probably on the way out and a new "baddie" was going to come in - the purple lizards... maybe "real" Cylons???

Well if you look at some of the original stuff compared to the finished product it is a bit different also. There is a story behind the photos also like the guy suited up, and the hands under neath grabbing up. That is Starbuck be recuited for his serves on a almost all female planet.

Yeah, concept to finished product is always a world apart... but those images seem way to grand for the TV screen - they seem more suited for the big screen as a movie.

They are all cool, just not what I expected.

Yeah the link is way old, and needs an update. Cylon-Knight said he is working to resolve that with a new roll out on the folders and stuff. Look for a new updated link coming in the future.

The art is from already existing SF book covers and was never part of the original document.

I believe Chris Larson added them in when he was selling them.

You are correct about that, and the name of the person that drew the art escapes me, but it was something that was added at a later date, and not by Glen
