DIY Rotocasting

Rotational molding, also known as rotomolding, is a molding process for creating many kinds of mostly hollow items. The info is not specific to Classic Cylon Centurions, but SURE can be helpful for them and many, many others projects. Here you'll find various threads with great info from our members for the hobby of costuming.

groupleaderzeta wrote:my question on the DIY Rotocasting Machine Plans on E-Bay,
is how does he keep the wire from the seconond motor from twisting and breaking after it passes through the shaft tube???

I do like the mechanical connection of the 2 frames, only needing 1 motor.
and I do like this one..

I looked again at this one and it looks like the center frame is free wheeling watch as he gives it a spin when he begins

Why do you say that?.....That's the idea of posting it here so that guy's like you and I can make this stuff in the future!

I can't make anything right now because of my situation...but I certainly will have a Model Shop/Studio again ....maybe next year but that's ok

Hold your head high! and go make somthing!.....

Just remember ........Take off's are optional.....Landings are mandatory!

So once you start ....you only have one option to finish!......If it turns out crappy......Make another and another untill you get it right!

:cylon: Slush Casting is the same as Rotocasting without the Rotocast Machine. The end result is a hollow casted part....Have a look. :salute:

You know all those guy's ! :salute: We really need much more imput from you!...I have seen your work and you are amazing!...We can only re-post and search for the tech we need and you do this stuff everyday!...lol

Are we on the right track with the molds and the like? What do you think?

My thinking is the vacuum forming for the armor and Rotocasting for the helmets?.

Did the Don Post studios use the Rotocasting method for the helmets they made in the 70's?

Come on Skullbeast start talking!!! LOL.......

For any of you new guy's like me....I have done a little research and Skullbeast is a Professional Hollwood monster maker who works for Legacy Effects in LA. You should check out his web site and see some of the absolutly amazing art this man has created...He truly is a very talented fellow. Skullbeast.Deviantart.Com

I wish I still lived there, I would be beating your door down.......LOL :salute:
