Maximillian concept art on eBay

Post by Red Eye » Tue Jan 15, 2013 9:42 am

I've just stumbled upon this nice piece of concept art for Maximillian by Carl Aldana:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-BLACK-HOLE- ... 2a2830985f

The artist is known for his concept / storyboard sketches for BSG's "Saga of a Star World", but I never knew he was involved with "The Black Hole" as well.

Wow the final production was not even close to the artist rendering :cylongold:

Kinda looks like Star Wars droid combined with a Dalek combined with a V.I.N.C.E.N.T. bottom end.

WOW... um... I'm glad Max looked like he did. That's some robot, oh my. More like a work station than a character, isn't it?

Abstract art is more like it. Very different than I how I see a robot.

I'm also glad they didn't used that concept for his final appearance.

And what's this thing in his left arm suppose to be? A ping-pong paddle?

Max doesn't play ping-pong, he cuts Palomino crewmen in half!

Ping pong! :)

What I guess is "the face" is interesting... seems like it would have a light up face under the 12345678 deal...

I think "Movie Max" with his single red eye is much more fitting for the character, as were his blade hands you noted Red Eye!

The eye slit also make him very Cylon looking.

They simply did a great job on the final design.

That's why he's one of my (if not THE) favorite movie robots!
