Galactica 80 screen used blaster

Post by nicksdad » Wed May 20, 2015 6:03 pm

I own a screen used blaster from Galactica 80.
It is a fiberglass casting and is glued together with what seems like hot melt glue or possibly silicone.
Very crude craftsmanship, riddled with air bubbles and poor registration alignment.
I got it from Fuller French many years ago.

So I was watching the blu ray edition of part 2 of the pilot when there was a pretty good shot of the basters being used by Troy and the other dude.
My blaster is the white version and in this scene they were using the white blasters.
Well, when Troy was stunning one of the Nazi's I was able to freeze frame the shot and I am pretty sure it is my blaster he is using.
The front has a huge opening crudely made and the shape of the opening matches mine.
Also, the air bubbles on my blaster seem to match on his.
Another point, the hot spot of the light bulb in the tip seems to match the location of the bulb in my blaster.

Very interesting. We've also collected some photos of the pistol in our G1980 Gallery: http://www.byyourcommand.net/cylongalle ... hp?cat=170

Do you have any photos of the real deal to share?

Here is a few pics of my blaster.
As you can see it is very crudely made, but still a nice example of Galactica goodness.

The thing about these white blasters I am not sure if they took older blasters, and just painted them or made them just to fit the call of the episodes originally. I did find out later they did make these (from the original molds) for the purposed of being white like they used them for. You blaster shows the same type of wear, and tear I have seen on others. To my knowledge there is only one complete costume excluding helmet, and blaster.
