I'll be inline to buy it, not the best of anything really yo offer, but some cool toys, and a few neat Cylon episodes. "The Night Cylons Landed", and "The Return of Starbuck". Look out Cy, and Wolf man Jack are back.

I went to the local electronics store (Fry's) and picked up my Galactica 1980 DVD box set. Watching it now, and I have to say it was worth the wait. Not that time has made it any better, but the quality of the images is better than I thought it would be. It will be great for screen caps.

I picked up my Galactica: 1980 box set. I'm very pleased with the transfer quality. Hey, I noticed that some of the episodes have a "Galactica 1980" title sequence (pilot part 1 and 2) while others say "Battlestar Galactica" (pilot part 3 and all remaining episodes) on the opening titles. Weird?

I didn't notice that opening credit. Your correct, I just popped in a DVD, and there it is. I kind of did the same when it was on, I called it Battlestar Galactica 1980.
Yes great quality over the bootleg DVD I have bought in the past, and also the quality of the Cylon sounds clips.

Does the G1980 DVD set have any good special features?

It is weird. The onscreen title has been changed; in the broadcast run, it was always "Galactica 1980." It was still "Galactica 1980" in the Goodtimes VHS release of The Return of Starbuck, but that episode has likewise been altered for the DVD.

Strange. It's not as if they were trying to fool anyone, since the packaging all says Galactica 1980.

Actually the title was not altered for the DVD. At some point in syndication the Galactica 1980 titles were changed to Battlestar Galactica. The series did not air in syndication in my area, but I was visiting someone in 1991 and the show aired on a Sunday morning and I was shocked to see the Battlestar title on a G80 episode.

Those same prints also aired on the Sci-Fi channel back in the day, and on Canada's Space The Imagine Station channel.

Hmmm. That was probably just shortly after the Goodtimes release. If the unaltered episodes no longer exist, I guess that makes the VHS a rare bird.

I remember my bootleg set too! It was awful with screen messages having been blurred and the images of the actors looking very jumpy and false! So glad we have the real deal these dats and maybe one day i'll get around to actually rewatching the series!!! :salute:
