ok anyway.. its been awhile as I have posted before .. slowly working on my suit when I am on breaks (work in mining fly from one side of oz to the other. currently at work on night shift :D ) good thing is, Christmas I have a nice 5 week break.. so plan to hammer out some more stuff :)

Now on a side note, and a idea if people are interested.
I made myself a armor stand (comes from my old days as a SCA fighter) I will post picks up when I get home but the best way to make one.

Get yourself a old T Shirt that you don't mine cutting up..
Put it on, then have someone wrap packing tape around you (the shirt helps it stop sticking to you) make it tight but not tight enough to breath. Once you have it wrapped up (I did about 5 layers of tape to give it good strength) .. (over shoulders/arms, and if you can stand it, your neck) have the person slit it up the back.
Once you have it off, tape up where you slit it.
Now cut a circle of cardboard that will fit over the bottom of the shirt and tape that on. Do the same for the neck and arm holes

And here comes the fun messy bit..

EXPANDING FOAM!!! I love this stuff, get yourself a few cans of expanding foam

Poke a hole in the shirt, and start filling it up.. I think mine took about 4 cans to fill.

What I did with mine before I filled it, was make a stand for it to go on, used my oldest stepsons old hi hat stand from a drum kit, added a couple of coat hangers to hand the shirt off. taped it all up..

anyway.. fill it up, and watch for leaks as the foam expands.

Give it a couple of days and you will have a solid armor stand that is shaped to your body, I made a head out of a few layers of neoprene foam then wrapped it all up in duct tape.

this way as your cutting out bits of your armor into shape you can see how it will actually fit on you without having to take it on and off again each time.

Plus once your armor is finished, you have a nice stand to display it on

ok the suit stand :)

ok so you wrap yourself in packing tape

Image

once you have finished, cut if off, tape up the holes and find a stand put the outer shell you have made on the stand, fill it with expanding foam, once set, cover in ductape and you will have something like this

Image

once done, you have a stand that is your shape :)

disadvantage, you realize how fat you have got as you get older
