Arm "Nozzle" mic tip

Post by FLIGHTLDR SERPENTINE » Tue Sep 08, 2015 11:23 pm

Hi,
I'd like to find the real world hardware item for the arm blaster… nozzle… tip… thing…. I'm sure it's been mentioned in some detail here, but I could not find it. What make and model of mic was used for the arm nozzle? I see that Dale mentioned it was a Shure mic in Skullbeast's thread. That's all I could find. Suggestions? details? references? Thank you for your attention. :cylongold:

Looks a bit like the SM57. But might be a tad too large in diameter?

Aw, there's gotta be more info out there? Dale, is yours intact? Have you posted images of it in the gallery? I'll have to go back and double-check.

my casting that came with the CORA kit is a decent one… a few bubbles and all. But upon close inspection, it looks like it is a few generations down but molded from a machined piece rather than a mic head. Looking down inside where the screen would be has the distinct look of a center for turning on a lathe. Hmm.

I'm still looking for an appropriately-sized mic.

I have a mic tip. But it showed up almost twice the size as the screen sized. It's awesome looking with great details but the wrong one.

Would be interesting to see a pic of it. What kind is it Dale?

I wonder if anyone here can machine these?
I'd like a cleaner copy that the bubbly resin one that came with the kit. I'd like to have it plated with the gauntlet, so it matches in color, rather than the spray paint look (though I know the spray paint look is screen accurate).

I've got a chromed one made by SB in my part storage supply.

It was made completely from scratch to get rid off all the defects (like the air bubbles you mentioned before).

Let me know if you're interested.

I could also post some preview pics if you like.

I'll take some photos tomorrow, no problem. :salute:

The nozzle itself is a bit thicker than the hole in the wrist armor, at least it were on mine. So you might have to enlarge it a bit to guarantee a better fit.

The piece is also already silver chromed so you have to rechrome / repaint it in copper.

As long as it's clean and looks accurate I'm in! Thank you, I'd love to see some images, and maybe next to something for scale? I think I can plate overtop of the chrome, right?

I think overplating it wouldn't cause any problems.

But I think you could also easily overspray it with ordinary copper paint since it looks like the originals were made the same way:

I honestly hate the look of the spray paint next to the real plating, though I know it is screen accurate. I started out wanting 100% screen accuracy with my suit, but I am now thinking of a bit of screen detail, like metallic tape on some of the obvious seams; but idealizing other aspects, such as plating the nozzle.

Nice. Thank you. Is that paint or actual plating?

That is paint, and cleaner than the original.
