Need help identifying my new helmet
Howdy,
I was wondering if I could get a bit of help. I just acquired a helmet through a friend on facebook. He was told this helmet is about 10 years old and not sure where it came from. Its a resin rotocast helmet and it is paper thin and cracked in a couple of places. Also the eye and mouth are in the casting and are not centered and the eye looks like it was very crudely caulked in with clay. Its very wavy and has some massive divots. there are no seam lines. It seems to be a multi-generation recast and is way too small to fit on my head. I would have to remove my ears and about a quarter inch more from either side of my head.
My intention with this helmet was to use it as reference to sculpt my own. Not sure what to do now that its easily 10% too small. I am curious about its history. I dont see any makers marks or birthmarks in the casting.
EDIT* I just found out this might be a copy of an Icons helmet.
Here are a few pictures and a link to the full album.

sorry I don't know the origin of your helmet, but that would make a great battle damaged cylon head

Hummm... I think you are on the right track, darthhair. It looks like Icons more than others. I see the waves... yikes...
But it still looks COOL!
Looking forward to your sculpt. It will be great to see another Centurion build from the ground up.

Thanks guys!
So was the Icons helmet smaller than the average head?

Judging from this Icons prototype helmet, I'd say your helmet is not of that origin. The most notable difference is the mohawk and visor area.
I think it's a rather badly recasted C.O.R.A. helmet. Just my 2 cents.

From what I've read, the Icons crew had access to a screen-used costume and made 1:1 molds of the helmet.darthhair wrote:So was the Icons helmet smaller than the average head?

Red Eye's eye is always watching! Second look and he's right. Icon has a massive mowhawk (ick) Also the top of the grill opening is a different shape.
If we could see how high/low the sale panels go that would be another clue, but can't make it out on the Icon pic.

Let me look at it later on a monitor and give you a heads up on it.

Looks like the eye piece is sculpted in and the mouth is not even there on the Icons helmet.
