Cylon534 Helmet Build (My First Try)
Before I go further with this thread, can anyone identify where this Helmet originates from? It has very sharp angular edges rather than the more rounded off screen-used Helmets. This is one of those solid piece resin Helmets that were on eBay a bit ago.

Looks like a recast of the CORA helmet.
If "they" say it can't be done, it just means "they" cant do it.

Not sure if it comes from a C.O.R.A. ... the mouth grill seems much sharper than C.O.R.A.'s.
Anyways, it looks like a nice helmet. If it's not 100% as close as it can be to screen - it sure is WAY WAY close. Great find.

LOL, I knew about the "Sultry C.O.R.A." in Starbuck's Modified Viper but was in the dark on the "User" C.O.R.A. Thanks!Cylon-Knight wrote:C.O.R.A. (A classic BSG character - Viper flight computer) - AND - one of our members who makes Centurion armor kits.

Also, although this Helmet i'm showing is already completed, I want to go through a few steps with the group to see where I went wrong! Just for the fun of it, I bought one of those LED strips and taped it in the visor just to see what it would look like. I also painted the grill with "Liquitex: Neutral Grey 3" spray paint.

Re: Cylon534 Helmet Build (My First Try)
The "upper lip" (above the grill & below the visor) looks too wide to be one of C.O.R.A.'s IMO. It was loosely suggested that this Helmet originates from one of the Cylons used in the "Battle Of Galactica" attraction...
What does anyone think?
Here is a closeup of the LED strip I installed. It will remain in there and I have blacked out all but one LED so this Helmet will NOT have a roving eye, just a static, off center LED powered by a 9v battery with an on/off switch (for now).

It's from battle of galactica tram ride from uni. Coras lip is thinner than most I would use it as an extreme on the thin vs gold commanders extreme thick. While the garrison leaders is more of an average.

Do you think this might be a recast from the one that was on ebay a while back? It was advertised as from the show, it was made of fiberglass and it ended for around $600. Does anyone have the pics from that auction? I'd love to see them and I dont know why I didn't save them.Skullbeast wrote:It's from battle of galactica tram ride from uni. edit: I found the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 0597373564
edit 2: Below is the Helmet from the auction in question...

It's a prototype helmet made by Icons Replicas.

Now that makes sense! Thanks!Red Eye wrote:It's a prototype helmet made by Icons Replicas.
Skipping a major step, I have the Helmet back from the chromer and I have applied the painted details with the same Liquitex "Neutral Grey #3" Spray Paint that I used on the grill above. I also had the grill clear coated.

Re: Cylon534 Helmet Build (My First Try)
Here is my finished Helmet. When I got it back from the chromer I was only half impressed with the job. I only have myself to blame because I DIDNT SAND OR PREP IT AT ALL!!! Lesson learned.
In a way it looks really cool because it has a machined aluminum look to it but of course it's not what I wanted. Once again, the eye is static (and not photoshopped! ).
