Re: Metal mouth grill
Not sure about the grill you have. The one that is metal is pretty sharp on it's edges and has a backside like in the pics above. The other version is much softer in detail. Some have described it as "doughy".

Re: Metal mouth grill
This is the one I have. will post some pics in a couple of day once I pour it.
Pic is not very clear but the grille does have nice sharp detail. It will just depend how well I can remove it from the sand mould when I do it. Cheers Terry- FLIGHTLDR SERPENTINE

Re: Metal mouth grill
Hard to tell from that image, but I think it is the right kind of mouth plate. If it has a thickness to it and a hollowed out area in the back it is the correct one. There are pics of the correct one posted by Brisfx on the top of page 4. Funny that you and Brisfx live in the same town...

Re: Metal mouth grill
The first attempt at casting the mouthpiece. I wont have anytime to do more for a week or two. It will depend on when I do another run of aluminium. I have a few more pics that I will upload over the weekend. I have to sit down and work out how much these will cost me to make. They will only be a here and there thing but if anyone does eventually want one I will be able to do enough for everyone. I will also weigh it tomorrow. Out of interest, how do these things attach to the helmet? I havn't got that far with mine yet. Cheers Terry

Re: Metal mouth grill
Very cool.
Does your own copy of the mouth piece have a different kind of back to it or does it resemble this one? I only ask because it would be ideal if the impression of the backside were also there. Also, how easy is it to sand/buff the texture smooth? Is it possible to use a finer grade of sand to make the mold?

Re: Metal mouth grill
The back is just like mine. The aluminium is easy to sand and polish. Cannot use a finer sand. The texture is from the graphite paint used to seal the mould. I can make it a touch smoother but its time consuming. Cheers Terry.

Re: Metal mouth grill
For your question Terry, only 1 is needed per helmet.
Great work!

Re: Metal mouth grill
Already have a metal one coming from Terry, but I'll have to get one of these, too.
