Re: helmet quandry
I agree with pretty much what everybody said. The camera man is visible mainly in the right cylon. You see his fingers on the camera and the flash is seen on the mohawks. YOu can see Dirk in the collar of the CY on the right but you can't see Richard on the left. This would say the angles have been tweaked to get the shot.
Camera lenses are highly affected by small changes and we dont know the lens used for this shot. A test you can do yourself is to take a photo of a rectangular piece of paper. Try and get all the sides 'squared' in the frame. YOu have to be right on top of the piece to get it right and even the slightest angle will skew it. It just illustrates the sensitivity of camera lenses and angle.
My final thought is that it was taken in one shot with the Cylons pushed forward and back and the actor placed whereever it 'worked'.

I can tell you that there were two helmet types. Thr Cylon helmet on the left has the common eye frame. The one on the right has the less common eye frame. I have added some pics of the two types of frames side by side. The yellow unit is from the helmet you see on the right. This casting came from an origional set of armor back in the eighties.

If "they" say it can't be done, it just means "they" cant do it.

Yup! It is actually larger then Jim Sleeths helmets. I have all the parts bucks made of utracal 30. I was planning on molding those and making the bucks out of tooling resin to vacuform them. I have had these since the mid eighties.

Very cool you have these still after all those years gone by but then I still have my production made items from when the show was on the air in 78.

Here's the rest of him. The resin pieces have already been used as vacuform bucks and it works great. This project has been sitting for years. I just need a copy of an origional sword with the detailed knob on the end and a Cylon pistol and rifle.
Whats the shrinkage on the 1630 from BJB. The blue stuff in the picture is Freeman Manufacturing - Perfect Tool. It can be a bitch to stir because the fillers settle densely on the bottom of the can, but it does'nt shrink.
