If "they" say it can't be done, it just means "they" cant do it.

Here are photos of my home made vacuum table made from a cookie sheet and plastic holding frame made out of window screen frame. I also posted a photo of the mohawk and mouthpiece of the helmet I am working on too.

Here are some pictures of most of the parts of my home made vacuum forming machine. Its not done yet but you can see its starting to take shape. I've taken apart an old vacuum cleaner and bought a small indoor grill to use as a plastic melting oven. I am going to install a second stage vacuum source so I've installed a one-way valve over the first stage opening. The valve was cut from one of those vacuum storage bags that I picked up at Harbor freight for a few bucks.

:sunglasses: COOL!

The machine and the master are looking great. Love the update!
What type of plastic are you planning on using in the machine when you pull your parts?

Right for now I am planning on using styrene so I can use chrome paint if I choose to get that route.

Well this weekend I was able to use my home made vacuum forming machine. I think it worked quite well considering I've never vacuum formed anything before!! On my first attempt, I didn't get a good seal on the table because one of the clips on the frame had slipped into the way. When I pulled the handle on my secondary vacuum it lost all of its pressure :frak: . So I re-heated the plastic again and fixed the clip. On the second attempt it sealed correctly but I was out of vacuum pressure in my secondary source. At any rate, I've attached photos of the plug and the completed part and a photo of the finished part leaning up against the face piece. :sunglasses:

As for the material used like you said styrene you can use just about any material you like. If you can spray paint it you can chrome it.
Good work on the grill.

Here are a few photos of a backpack I made from plastic mirror and the patterns in the paper crafting section of the main page. There are more details of how it was done over there.
