A final goodbye to Glen A Larson

Post by GoldCylon » Sat Nov 29, 2014 11:01 pm

Last Saturday (Nov 22nd) I had the honor of being invited to the funeral of Glen Larson. Although I wasn't a close friend of Glen's we did work together on a several Battlestar Galactica projects in the past 2 years

While at Glen's funeral I heard his friends, family, and associates speak about Glen and their person memories. With no names will be mentioned.
The church the services were held at was Glen's life long church, and at the age of 9 years old he helped place bricks that built this building we are in right now.

His father was injured in World War 2, and survived to come home, but a few years later passed away from the injuries of the war. This would leave his mother single with 2 boys two raise alone. So she took a job that left her with sore, and tired feet from work so at the end of each day while Glen was listening to the radio his mom soaked her feet under running water in the bathtub. That sound of the running water would influence Glen's writing. The bathtub water would be running when he was writing.

His love for being in or near water would always a part of the rest of his life. His yacht, the pool at his house, or writing scripts on the beach in
Hawaii when on Magnum PI. One of his more recent purchases was lakefront home for his wife Jeannie.

Some of his friends from before his Hollywood career started would find there way into his productions as actors, script writers etc.
He had a TV room that was packed with TV, and all of them were on. He was a sport fan, but his children are not.

His kid brother didn't like his advice as he gave as they would drive down the road, but he found out sometime later that advice was the best advice he ever had. No one was ever allowed to pay for any dinners, lunches or meals.

Not to long ago Glen mentioned to a good friend that he lived his life dream, and couldn't of asked for more.

He touched 100's of millions of peoples life with the TV programs he brought into houses around the world.

One of these people who grew up in a small poor village town in south Africa was so influenced watching Knight Rider on the only TV in the area wanted to come to the US. He worked hard in school, and was able to go to College in the US. Later this young man after graduated college was able to get job working at the UN. Glen was a brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a husband to Jeannie.
